Chapter 38 – Last Week at Redondo Beach

Daniel:  Oh, that’s good. John David needs a little help sometimes. He can help me with my social studies.

Bette and Tina hugged Daniel and said goodnight. They both retired to their room and went through their night time grooming routines and then went to bed.

Wednesday and Thursday went on just as routine days.  Bette called the investment advisor and rescheduled their appointment for the following Friday since Jim wanted to meet. Next week, Bette would write her first test for the undergraduate class to be administered on Thursday and Friday. Grace and George had worked out their schedules and things were going very well. They were having more contact with Holly than they were with Bette. And Bette was liking how things were going here at UCLA.

Tina was painting with her heart and soul on the three paintings. She believed that she would be near completion by the end of the week. But she did not want to take them down until the following week. Since these were her first ones, she was trying to decide if she were going to have these mounted and framed. She also wanted an opinion on them before she made that decision. She decided that she would call Paris to come and look and give her an opinion before she made that decision. She would make it clear that Paris needed to look at the work as a new artist and not as her sister-in-law. One of the paintings was one in which she was going to keep no matter what. The other two, she believed that if there were a potential buyer, she would certainly entertain an offer. At this point, her mind was churning with a couple of new ideas and she wanted to get started on those.

Friday came quickly. Bette and Tina got up early. Daniel showered and took his weekend bag and his backpack down stairs.  Tina gave him a couple of apples and reminded him that he would be eating breakfast at the school. Bette asked him if he had enough money on his account to pay for an additional meal this week. He said he did but would check on his way to make sure. Bette reminded him that his allowance would automatically transfer to his account today and if he needed some additional to get through the weekend to call her.
