Chapter 5
(Tina smiles) Great. Well I’ll let you get back to things here
(Bette) OK, I can pick you up at Alice’s at 7?
(Tina) Sure
Tina turns to leave and Bette moves back towards her desk. She looks to Tina with an eyebrow raised.
(Bette) And we’re back to Bette now are we?
Tina pauses in the doorway and smiles.
(Tina) Well, only until I convinced you to come on the date
They both smile.
(Tina) I think you flirting with me is a good sign though baby
They share a smile as Tina leaves. Bette sits down at her desk, smiling and shaking her head.
Later, Alice’s apartment. Tina is trying on outfits in front of a full length mirror in Alice’s spare bedroom, and Alice sits on the bed leaning against the headboard and sipping on a beer.
(Tina) Thanks for picking these up for me Al. I’m kind of avoiding seeing my new place. It’s too weird for me
Tina shrugs and Alice looks at her.
(Alice) No problem, though it’s not exactly new TK
(Tina) Well, new to me
Tina sighs as she tosses another dress aside and rifles through the pile on the end of the bed.
(Alice) So, is tonight a date?
Tina pulls another dress over her head and stands again in front of the mirror.
(Tina) Does it matter what it’s called? It’s dinner
Alice nods and has a sip of beer. Tina smiles at her and holds out her hand, taking the beer and having a swig before returning it to Alice.
(Tina) What are you so worried about?
Alice smiles at her.
(Alice) I don’t know. You’re not exactly thinking straight recently. I feel like you’re going to be really cross with me once you’re back if I let you date Bette after all this time
Tina straightens her dress and looks in the mirror.
(Tina) How much time?
(Alice) Since you last dated?
Tina looks over at her.
(Tina) Since we separated
Alice looks back at her for a moment.
(Alice) Angie was a baby
Tina raises her eyebrows and looks at her in surprise, turning her body to face her straight on.
(Tina) That’s so long ago
They look at one another for a moment before Tina turns back to the mirror, staring at her reflection as she takes this in.

Humm.. so Bette and Tina have been separated for more than 10 years… that is a long time. This temporary amnesia may be the only way these two can get together. They have to be in a place where the pain and hurt has been totally blanked out. Subconsciously, Tina knows what cause the breakup and that is why she does not want to know about it from Bette. Once she brings it into her consciousness, she will have to deal with it. It would seem that her desire to be with Bette is far more important than knowing what happened and then to deal with how she feels about it. Seems like these two are really in a mess.
Thanks for the chapter…
I agree with you Martha.
It will be interesting to see how this will go, it could be a good thing to come close again, build a friendship before Tina become the Tina she was. I believe their separation was ugly, otherwise their wouldn’t be still so much angry between them. Bette has admitted she is still hung up on Tina and i believe Tina is as well. But ten years separated and so much anger, i really want to know what happened, if you follow canon a bit i wouldn’t be surprised if the reason is that Tina left Bette for Henry or some other guy.
I am really curious what happened.
Great story!
What if Tina is faking her amnesia so she can relive the time in her life when she was most happy?
