Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans

Bette:  You know if I didn’t know better, I would swear that he has some of the same genes in him which are in Kit. His love for music and hers is really similar.

Tina:  Yeah, it’s the love of art expression which he gets from his Mama B that you see.  He just prefers that which can be heard rather than that which is seen. But he is really good with finding beauty and utility in everything he does.  He is amazing.

Bette:  He really is, isn’t he? We are really lucky to have him as our son. After having Angie, you know I was really worried if we could do a good job raising a boy. I think we are doing okay with him.

Tina:  Well, the up-coming years will be the true test of how well we are doing. These are the years that we get to teach him how to deal with the world beyond his family.

Bette: Yeah. We are still working with Angie on that. So, we continue our conversations with her tonight?

Tina:  Oh yes. We need to get our game plan together on that.

Bette:  This one is going to be a bit more specific than last night. Do you think I can wear a paper bag over my head so she doesn’t see me blushing?

Tina:  Absolutely not. And you are not going to blush either. You are discussing with your daughter something that occurs in every human life. We are discussing a natural process in every life. The problem is that there is a lot of emotions attached to sex especially in women.

Bette: Yeah, you are right.  This should not cause me to blush. Hopefully, I won’t. I just want to do the right thing and give her the information she needs to make her own decisions.  And I am so afraid that I’m going to say something that is not going to do that.

Tina:  We need to make sure she understands that we do not have all the answers. No one knows all the answers. There are going to be situations that she will find herself in that we have never faced and we won’t have a clue as to how to guild her even if we were right there beside her. She will just have to use her knowledge and her common sense to make the decisions put before her. She needs to ask herself if this action or inaction will help her be the person she wants to be.
