Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans

Bette:  For me college was a period of transition.  It was a transition from childhood to adulthood.  I enjoyed my college days, but I would not want to repeat them.  I think once was enough.

Tina:  I don’t think that I would either. Even though looking back, it was a time to enjoy adult privileges without adult responsibility. I think that I was so naïve about most things. There are certainly things that I did which I totally regret. I wish I had never slept with Jonathan Adams. But that is what happens when you get a little too much alcohol in you.

Bette:  Well, we can do nothing about the past. It is what it is.  Let’s just hope we can communicate to Angie that she needs to think before she acts. It may not make any difference in her decision, but at least she will own her decision.

Tina:  Yeah, I think that’s the important factor.  She needs to know that she is responsible for her decisions and her actions. And she will be the one who will live with whatever the results of those decisions and actions.

Bette:  I think we can do this Tina….  together we can get that message across to her.

Tina:  Well, everything is ready except for the meat loaf.  It needs another 10 minutes.  Let’s have a glass of wine and relax a minute.

The family had dinner and discuss the upcoming day at the Department of Motor Vehicles and the bank. They then informed Angie and Daniel that the family would be having dinner with Aunt Helena and Aunt Dylan on Friday evening. Tina also talked about that if they did not find a house suitable for the family, then they would move into Helena and Dylan’s home until they did.

Angie then talked about the things that she needed to accomplish before school started. Bette reminded her that she would be starting her driving lessons the week she got back from New York.

Bette:  You guys need some kind of activity for the month of August. Would you guys be interested in taking some golf lessons or some tennis lessons?

Angie:  I’ve never thought about it, but golf lessons might be nice.  That’s a sport that you can do almost everywhere and you can do for a life time.
