Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans

Daniel:  Why don’t we have a picnic on the beach and fly some kites?

Tina:  Really?  That’s what you want to do?

Daniel:  Yeah. I want just some time to be together without anything particular we need to do.

Bette:  Well, that’s fine with me. Angie?

Angie:  Sounds good to me.  It will be just like we use to fly kites in Central Park.

Tina:  Okay, why don’t we go out and start our kite flying about 10 in the morning. Then have our picnic lunch and get back home by 2:00 and take a nap then get up and get ready for dinner and a concert?

    Daniel:  Sounds good to me.

    Bette:  Angie?

    Angie:  That’s fine.

Tina:  Okay, now Sunday, Angie and I will be packing to go to New York.  So, we will not be planning anything except for at home activities. We need to leave here about 5:00 pm to get to John Wayne Airport in Orange County by 6:30. Angie, you and I will have dinner on the plane. And you need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for the trip. Hopefully we will be sleeping for most of the trip.

Bette:  Daniel and I will do whatever we can to help you guys get ready for your trip.

Tina:  Okay, everyone finished with dinner? Let’s get the kitchen cleaned up and adjourn to the living room.

The left-over food was placed on plastic plates and then sealed with plastic wrap and then put into the freezer for future use.  Tina showed Bette what she had done and gave her instructions on microwaving the plates so that they would have a ready-made dinner while they were in New York. Tina suggested that the meat loaf dinner, the spaghetti and the chicken parmesan would be good as either a dinner or a heavy lunch choice depending on their schedules. She also suggested that they eat some of the French toast and the pancakes as they would not be good in a couple of weeks.

Tina:  Gosh, we have an abundance of French Toast.  I think I’ll fix some of that tomorrow morning since we have such an early schedule. Wow, we still have a freezer full of food.  Bette, don’t order any groceries next week.  I’ll take care of that when we get back from New York.  We have enough for at least a couple of weeks of meals.  We may need some fruits and vegetables, but that’s about it.
