Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans

Bette:  Well, I’ll order some fruits and vegetables next week then. I certainly do not want you to come home to an empty cupboard.

Bette was more concerned that Paris and Jeanette would have a good food supply to feed Angie and Daniel as well as themselves. She did not want them to feel obligated to take the kids out for every meal.

Tina:  Well, we can get food delivered in a couple of hours if we need anything.

Bette remained silent.  She would evaluate the situation next week, talk to Jeanette and decide what she needed to do next week. She also needed to think about when she would let Daniel in on the plan for his weekend with Angie, Paris and Jeanette. Jeanette loved to cook and if that is what she wanted to do, then Bette was going to assist her with the appropriate food in the house.  She smiled at her plan to take Tina away for the weekend.

With the kitchen cleaned up, Daniel asked to be excused to the media room to watch a movie which had just come available on Netflix.  Another Star Wars episode had been put on the selection list. Normally the entire family would join Daniel in viewing the movie, however Bette and Tina felt that they needed to continue their conversations with Angie from the previous night. So, they begged off the movie and went to the living room to talk.

Tina brought a bottle of water for each of them and sat down to get comfortable next to Bette.  Angie sat on the sofa facing her moms.

Tina:  Angie have you got any questions about any of the discussion we had last night or what we discussed on Sunday evening?

Angie:  I really have a lot of questions…But I think some of what you said last night helped me with most of them. I think I understand the difference between friendship and romantic attraction. I am now aware that alcohol can affect one’s judgement and can put your safety at risk. I also understand that my relationships will be my decision and my choice. And I am also beginning to see that every decision I make at least from this point on affects my path through life. If I choose to join a sorority, then I will be surrounded by a certain type of personalities which will become my friends and my support network. On the other hand, if I choose not to join a sorority, then my friends and my support network will be something which I will construct by those I choose to associate with. There are advantages and disadvantages to both choices. And you both have said you will support me regardless of what choice I make. So, then it becomes a matter of what path do I want to forge for myself.  What choice will make me happiest and will allow me to be the person I want to be.
