Kit winced as Helena pierced through her cloak into her skin with her fingernail. She quickly catches Carmen’s gaze who nods at her “….Yes. I will prove my loyalty …Madam Helena” Kit says almost in a whisper
“What was that?” Helena asks turning her ear toward Kit’s face “I don’t think I quite heard you”
“I said I will prove my loyalty” Kit repeated this time with more confidence
Helena turns her head to look at Kit and smiles “Ah..Good..Because I really didn’t want to be sweeping up any ashes tonight”. She says pulling out her fingernail from Kit’s flesh “Now..I have instructed Uta to watch your every move and if you so much as breathe in your sister’s direction…..” she pauses placing her hand in front of Kit’s face and twisting it to mimic a snapping “Do you understand?”
Kit nods “Yes Madam Helena”
“Very well…Dismissed” she motions for Kit to leave
Kit half bows and leaves the council room making her way to her private lair. She was armed with all the knowledge of Helena’s plan and now panicking on how she would get Bette this information. The last thing she wanted to do was leave Bette protecting Christina blindly when Bette was counting on her to keep her abreast of Helena’s plans. Her loyalty remained with her sister and she was determined to alert her one way another even if it meant Helena would kill her for it.
“Kit?”
Kit turned to see Carmen standing behind her
“Carmen?”
“Your distracted demeanor will do you no good in protecting yourself…You did not sense me approaching you”
“That is the least of my worries Carmen. I have let my sister down” Kit sadly replies as Carmen grabs her wrist placing her thumb on the underside to begin her channeling. She closes her eyes as images and voices flash quickly inside her mind. She opens them once they have passed and smiles satisfactorily at Kit
“Bette wishes the coven no harm. It’s only Helena she wishes to exact her revenge on”
Kit sighs “Yes”
Carmen releases her grip on Kit’s wrist “I suspected as much. Helena’s reciting of the prophecy Jasper told her is what we need to happen Kit. This colony needs a resurrection and new leadership. Helena has authority over all the covens except the Romanian Coven. Now I know why. And I want to help Bette in this endeavor. But she will need to embrace Christina for this to happen and I’m not quite sure if that is even a possibility. I know Bette will not embrace her without her permission”

I agree with Billy….. why is wrong with Tina? Why is she sweating and running a fever? She slept all day and did not realize it until she woke up? That means her internal clock is not working properly. That only happens when for most people they have been under the influence of an anesthetic or strong sleep inducing drugs.
Carmen’s sudden alliance with Kit is surprising. She seems to have a lot of unique skills that the others do not have. Being a vampire and a metamorphite is truly advantageous. Can she be trusted? Helena was able to detect Kit’ meeting with Bette, will she be able to detect Carmen’s meeting with Bette as well? Is this a trap for Bette?
Now Bette is a vampire and a shape changer with extraordinary strength. What else can she do which we do not know about.
I am a little concerned for Tina. She needs to be embraced which I take to mean she needs to become a vampire as well. Perhaps this illness is the impetus which will propel her to that decision. If she is sick and near death, she may readily consent to being embraced to be immortal and Bette’s partner. That is merely a guess…
Good story… love to see more….

I was wondering if she was accidentally infected, since one of Bette’s fangs grazed her. If Bette doesn’t turn her she will die. I obviously watched too many vampire movies. Enjoying your story.

I hope Tina doesn’t need to be turned. In fact I hope that somehow all the mystic stuff will help Bette to change herself back. Maybe it is the process of regaining more of the memory of the previous Tina that makes her body ill or weak.
Not sure if Carmen can be trusted and if Kit will be strong enough to withstand Helena.
