    Dear Diary—Chapter 1

As she stared at the leather binding of the law books, she took a step back thinking about the diary she lost that contained all of her feelings for the woman she was about to have in her office in less than an hour. When she returned from Stanford for her spring break she went to her desk where she kept it to discover that the diary was gone. She was sure her mother had found it but denied knowing anything about it.

Tina had been out on several dates and had a number of brief romances with women since high school but they never stirred the feelings in her like Bette did and still does. Seeing her last night awoken those feelings in her but she knew better than to let those surface and she was satisfied with being her attorney and could at least spend time with her like she had always wanted . Last night was the first conversation she had ever had with Bette and was thrilled Bette took her up on her offer of representation.

As she went back to her desk her intercom buzzed and hit the button to respond.

    ”Yeah”

”Ms. Porter is here” Cynthia announced

”Send her in please” Tina responded and quickly fluffed her hair and smoothed out her blazer as Cynthia knocked and opened the door letting Bette inside the office

”Thanks Cynthia” Tina said waving her off as Cynthia shut the door ”Hey Bette. I’m glad you decided to see me” Tina smiled as she motioned Bette to sit in the chair in front of her desk.

Bette smiled warmly almost shy like as she nodded and took a seat holding a couple of binders in her hand

”Yeah. Uhmm? I wanted to talk to you about something first though” Bette said setting the binders in her hand on her lap.

Tina leaned back against the front of her desk and folded her arms

”Ok Sure” Tina said urging Bette to talk with a nod of her head

Bette fidgeted in her seat and sighed

”Tina? I don’t feel comfortable you taking this case pro bono and-”

”Bette? Take out your pocketbook or whatever you keep your money in” Tina interrupted
