I Will Not Let You Fall
Tina panted as she looked around again. She couldn’t believe what was happening. She couldn’t concentrate, couldn’t think. In her mind a thousand voices were screaming RUN and it was driving her crazy. At some point the voices overbeared her and she surrendered to her fear, all over again.
Casting one last glance at her sleeping girlfriend, Tina rushed into the house, struggling to find vent in convulsively hysterical tears. She pulled her dress and shoes on and dashed out of the house, not looking back.
–Good girl. You’re doing the right thing.– another text message said.

Bette stirred and turned over slightly. She felt warmth on her face and too much light. She wasn’t sure what had awakened her – not at first. The sounds, or, to be precise, a lack of any, the feel of everything were just wrong. She opened her eyes and immediately had to protect them with a hand from the blazing afternoon sun. Or was it really afternoon, she asked herself. Sitting up in the deckchair, she groaned due to mild soreness in her body. After her eyes adjusted to the sunshine, the brunette could spot a tray with untouched coffee and some food on it. There was no Tina in sight.
Wiping the sleep from her face, she stood up and went in search for the blonde and for her clothes.
”Tina?” she called out as soon as she stepped into the house, but was only met with silence.
She found her shirt and pants getting dried in the bathroom upstairs. Quickly dressing herself, Bette scurried to the guest room where she and Tina had slept. She took her phone, learned that it was already about three in the afternoon and called Tina. It went straight to voicemail, so she left an urgent message asking Tina to call her back. Then she tried Shane, but got no answer as well.
”Something is not right,” Bette muttered to herself as she pulled her boots on hurriedly before darting out of the room.
She had gone down the stairs and was about to head toward the front door when a female figure sidled into her peripheral vision. She turned her gaze to her and froze.
”Tasha?”
Unfolding her arms, the somber woman took a few steps toward Bette, but still there was quite a distance between them.

Hi Valerie:
OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.
I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.
Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.
I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!
That was a great ride. Thanks
Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
