I Will Not Let You Fall

”What’re you doing here?” Bette narrowed her eyes.

Tasha held Bette’s intense stare. ”The door was unlocked, so I let myself in.”

”I didn’t ask how you got inside,” the brunette remarked, her tone chilled, her posture rigid, defensive.

Letting out a breath, Tasha spoke evenly, ”You were right about me. I’m an undercover FBI agent and I’m here to arrest you. The game is over, Bette.”

Bette’s didn’t move. Her jaw tightened while she kept her glower fixed on Tasha.

”It’s in your best interests to cooperate with me and not to resist arrest. Otherwise, I might change my mind about what charges to press against you.”

Bette gave a dry, throaty chuckle. ”I’m intrigued now.”

Tasha swallowed, looking a little hesitant. ”I might keep mum about some of your crimes. Not that I want to. It’s only a matter of humanity. You saved my life back in Tijuana and I owe you for that.”

”Oh, come on now with all the dramatics,” Bette smiled lopsidedly. ”I didn’t save your life. I was saving mine and you just happened to be my company.”

”Whatever you say. My point is set.”

”So, what’s next? Aren’t you going to handcuff me and read me my rights?” Bette mocked.

As Tasha approached slowly she held Bette at gunpoint. When there were several inches between the two women, Tasha put out handcuffs. ”Turn around and put your hands behind your back.”

Not moving a muscle, the tall brunette kept staring at Tasha. Suddenly, the front door opened and a distraught Shane rushed inside. Bette seized the moment when Tasha’s attention was averted and with a burst of speed knocked the gun out of Tasha hand, causing it to skitter across the floor, before pushing the woman with such force so that Tasha stumbled back and collapsed, her head hitting the hard corner of a coffee table.

”SHANE, GO START THE CAR!” Bette yelled, running toward the exit.

Having been staring open-mouthed at the scene, Shane jumped at Bette’s harsh voice. She spun around and raced out the door, Bette following behind.

”What the fuck just happened?!” Shane shouted out when Bette caught up with her.

Police sirens echoed out loud and clear, drawing closer. All of sudden gunshots were fired.

    1. Hi Valerie:

OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.

I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.

Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.

I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

    3. Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!

    4. Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
