I Will Not Let You Fall
”Maybe,” Bette answered, though she didn’t care.
”Bette?” Tina whispered, taking a hold of Bette’s bruised hand. ”What brought you in the state you were in last night?” she wondered carefully, her heart tightening as she remembered the level of Bette’s anguish.
It was that moment when Bette wanted to tell Tina everything, everything about herself, about every vicious thing that she had done in her life. Whether it was that she didn’t want to scary and upset Tina furthermore or that she was just too coward, she could not bear the truth to be told.
”Nothing unusual,” she chose to say.
Tina didn’t believe Bette, but there was no point in fighting for information. Her gaze lowered onto Bette’s hand as she studied the cuts, a thought appearing in her head all of sudden.
”Did that person was the reason?” she asked, looking up at the brunette apprehensively.
”What person?”
”The one that caused the cuts on your hand.”
Bette stared at her for a long moment, blinking infrequently and with a slow opening and shutting of the eyes.
”That person killed Marcus.”
A gasp instantly left Tina’s mouth that opened in shock and disbelief. She put her hand over it and gazed at Bette, smarting from the appalling discovery.
”I’m so sorry…” Tina whispered with sorrow, not knowing what else to say. She couldn’t even imagine what it was like to lose a friend like this. ”When did it happen..?”
Bette rubbed her eyes. She didn’t remember the day it had happened. It felt differently. It felt like it had happened months ago and it felt like it had happened two hours ago, sometimes it felt like nothing had happened – Marcus just wasn’t there anymore, that’s all.
”I don’t really remember, Tee. Not very long ago. Can we talk about something else please?” Bette offered. Frankly, she preferred to not talk, she was just so exhausted.
Tina sniffed and nodded against her pillow. They watched each other intimately, silence stretching into minutes.
”Can we cuddle?” Bette inquired in a soft, timid voice.
Tina smiled. ”Bette Porter asking for a cuddle. Well, this is new.”
Bette managed a smirk. ”I could be asking for something else, but I doubt my capabilities at the moment, so don’t beg much,” she teased, relaxing the atmosphere somewhat.

Hi Valerie:
OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.
I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.
Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.
I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!
That was a great ride. Thanks
Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
