I Will Not Let You Fall
Bette stared at Shane silently, her jaw set tight and chest heaving as flashbacks of Shane getting her from under the water and out of the pool flooded into her mind. She then turned her eyes away from her friend’s hard ones.
”If it was your attempted suicide, then I swear to fucking God, I’ll make sure you succeed next time, so that you’ll die an idiot,” Shane said angrily.
Bette snorted a rueful laugh. ”Dying an idiot sounds more attractive than living an idiot.”
”Why’re you even affected like that, to the point of wanting to crap out? So what you blew some fuckers’ brains out? They were assholes, scum of the society. They killed Marcus, damn it. They deserved to go to hell, and even though I don’t believe in heaven and hell, I hope they’re burning there as we speak.”
Bette shook her head. ”We deserve no different, Shane.”
”Not gonna argue with you on that. Most likely we do. But everything in its own good time,” the short-haired brunette reasoned. She then stood up and went inside. After a while she came back with two cups of coffee. Handing one to Bette, Shane spoke again, ”While Arnodelo isn’t informed, we have some time in stock, so I think it’s the perfect chance to get out of the US.”
”I can’t go,” Bette said and took a sip of the hot drink. ”I can’t leave Tina here. Arnodelo knows about her, he would use her to bring me back.”
”Shit. Tina doesn’t want to go?”
”Why would she want though, she has her life here, her family that loves her, her loyal friends, her studies. Her bright future is here, why would she want to give it all up just to live an illegal life in a foreign country with a wanted criminal?” Bette concluded with a tinge of bitterness.
”I don’t think it’s like that for her.”
”That’s because she might not be the most realistic person.”
Shane rubbed her eyes wearily.
”You go without me,” Bette declared.
Shane let out a throaty chuckle. ”Guess what? I can’t go. I’m not leaving you here alone.”
Bette sighed and turned to look at Shane. Smiling sadly, she said, ”Thank you for being such a good friend. I can’t bear losing you too.”

Hi Valerie:
OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.
I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.
Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.
I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!
That was a great ride. Thanks
Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
