I Will Not Let You Fall

Tina snickered. Bette’s punch-line caused her to feel warm suddenly. She recognized her Bette, the Bette she had fallen in love with from the beginning.

Moving closer to the blonde, Bette dove into her inviting embrace and tried to close her eyes again. However much she lay in Tina’s arms, sleep was refusing to come to her, but at least there were no images or sounds anymore. Eventually she sighed, surrendering to the insomnia, and simply relished being close to the love of her life.

After a while Tina had fallen back into the dreamland and Bette decided to go downstairs to get some coffee. Maybe Shane was awake as well and could keep her company.

The brunette found a robe to dress herself since her clothes from last night were nowhere to be seen. She went down the stairs and headed toward the kitchen. When passing by the french doors though, Bette saw a figure sitting on one of the deckchairs, so she directed her steps outside.

”Can’t sleep?” Bette asked the obvious question as soon as she took a seat on the neighboring deckchair.

Shane nodded numbly as she sat gazing at the pool water’s iridescent surface as if in trance. ”You too?”

”Yeah,” Bette said, squinting in the bright sunshine. The weather was much more pleasant than the two previous days. ”Thanks for letting us spend the night in your guest room.”

Shane waved her off. ”Never mind.”

Reclining in the deckchair, the brunette let out a small sigh.

”I think you better lay low today. I’ll go take care of the business,” Shane stated.

”What’s the point of laying low? Arnodelo will find out sooner or later, if he hasn’t already.”

”He hasn’t. Otherwise, he would’ve sent people to get you by now.”

”Still. There’s no point in laying low. But I agree with you on that. I need a break.”

”Is Tina gonna stay with you for the day?”

    ”I hope so. Why?”

Shane pursed her lips. ”I don’t think you should be alone.”

Bette lifted her head and looked directly at her friend, but nothing came out of her mouth.

Shane met her eyes with a firm look. ”Unless you can explain what you were doing trying to drown yourself in the pool yesterday.”

    1. Hi Valerie:

OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.

I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.

Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.

I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

    3. Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!

    4. Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
