Love in Control – Chapter II – Savannah (Part 2)

Hyacinthe was sorely tempted to ask what that ring size was, but she held her tongue.

She hung up shortly after confirming with Amber details of the appointment.

She was still lost in thought, had laid the brochure on the kitchen table, and was absentmindedly putting a pot to boil to prepare to make some tea, when she felt Jade gently touch her shoulder.

“I asked if that was Jim?” Jade asked when Hyacinthe turned to look at her slowly. Those mesmerizing green eyes that Rian had said could change into an interesting mix of some shades of blues and greens were peering back at her inquisitively. She’d evidently repeated her question.

    “No, no it wasn’t Jim.”

Before Jade could follow-up on her earlier question, Hyacinthe asked, “Are you buying something from Tiffany’s?”

Jade felt a full-on blush spread and she pursed her lips to keep them from quivering. She slid a quick glance at the kitchen table. Hyacinth must have seen it.   “That was Amber who called. Said that if you wanted to head over there, they could accommodate you for the 10:00 am consult slot, because whoever was scheduled to come in had to cancel.”

Jade rubbed her lower lip unconsciously with a finger, thinking about how to answer Rian’s mom’s questions without tipping her hand.

“Seems like you’ve told her that there were a few rings that caught your eye, and they’ve gotten things ready for you in case you end up choosing one of them.”

Jade stepped back, raised her hands over her head and interlaced them, and then paced slowly around the kitchen. In a real pickle now! Damn! Why’d I leave that brochure lying around anyway?

“Jade, honey?” Hyacinthe prompted her after a minute of continued silence in the kitchen.

“Mom, I’ve been thinking about something, and .. please trust me … I would talk about it now but I’m not ready yet …” Jade finally answered, as she turned around to face Hyacinthe, giving her a small smile.

Hyacinthe took a few steps towards where Jade paused from her pacing, but pulled up short several feet away. Poor woman looks trapped! That wasn’t my intention at all.

“Jade, let me say something; something I’ve been meaning to tell you for the longest time. I don’t know why I’ve never told you before, but I think this is really the very first time we’ve ever had together, so, I’m glad we have this chance now…”

    1. So pleased to read your story!

I don’t care that it isn’t a traditional Bette and Tina story line, but i wouldn’t mind if you give them more time in it ;-)

That was such a heart warming talk between Jade and Rian’s mom.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. It was a little early for my Pinot Noir, but well worth it, as it perfectly paired with your story. In fact, all of your stories are a full-spectrum sensory experience for me. Like a good glass of wine, I get lost in the color, bathe in the aroma, and relish the taste and texture of your scenes. Your give your protagonist characters a rich personality that I can’t help but instantly root for. While Bette and Tina initially drew me this this site and your stories, I really enjoy your other characters just as much.

Aerin virtually stole the words out of my mouth. If I had a professor like Rian during my undergraduate years, perhaps I would have gotten better than a C+ in my Art History class. I may have even been persuaded to change majors with such impassioned lectures.

As I was reading the dialogue between Jade and Rian’s mom, I was thinking that’s the type of mom I wish we had and we all would become. Well done.

    3. I normally am only interested in Bette and Tina stories, but not with this one im loving all your characters , and story lines, i can”t wait to read more. Thank you

      • Thanks for all your comments don70! Am glad you and others enjoy reading about these characters and am happy you find the different storylines they inhabit interesting. Please do continue to let me know your thoughts as this story progresses – based on actual places and people – as we explore what it means to love, and be stripped bare even if fully-clothed, before another.

    4. Genuine art has the power to strengthen the spirit of the people.
I loved Rian lecture, I applaud the end of the lecture.
And please do not let Tina looks at this Kaci, from what I read,
      I realized, it will happen.
      The complete constellation.
