Love in Control – Chapter II – Savannah (Part 2)

Jade gave her a small smile.
“You don’t know how much it warms a mother’s heart to see her daughter so happy and … I dare say it … so terribly in love with someone who reciprocates that love. How miraculous, even, it feels, that, after everything that her daughter has been through, and, knowing how difficult it’s been for her daughter to work through a very difficult recovery, I as her mother can rest easy knowing that this amazing person will stick it out with her.”
Jade opened her mouth to say something, but Hyacinth raised a slim, elegant hand up to stop her.
“Honestly, you have had such courage, Jade, have shown such commitment, in persevering through everything with Rian; I frankly don’t know if I’d done the same had it been me. I would do it, as her mother, of course. But … as her partner?”
“I loved my husband very much – even so, I don’t know if I’d have been as courageous as you’ve been, if he’d been in her situation, and we hadn’t been married yet when all of that happened. Yet you jumped right in. You pulled Rian through all of her rehab, gave her all the support she’s needed to get through her PTSD, stood up to all of the bigotry that you’ve faced, I’m sure, by being in a same sex relationship with her, and probably shielded Rian from all that. I know you and she have had your tantrums and arguments, but you’ve proven that no matter how tough it got, you made it very clear that you were never going to leave her.”
“Now, my daughter is beautiful, but I know she has never given her heart easily, yet she’s always had boyfriends or partners who’ve worshipped her. And then you happened; and I could see right away that this relationship was different. She’s never had anyone like you; someone who wasn’t willing to let her get away with things, but, at the same time, showed, over and over again, that her welfare, her happiness — her life, were the most important things to you. I don’t quite know how to express that, as a mother, knowing her daughter is loved like that … it’s …”

So pleased to read your story!
I don’t care that it isn’t a traditional Bette and Tina story line, but i wouldn’t mind if you give them more time in it ;-)
That was such a heart warming talk between Jade and Rian’s mom.
Thanks for the update!
Just Bette and Tina please!!!
It was a little early for my Pinot Noir, but well worth it, as it perfectly paired with your story. In fact, all of your stories are a full-spectrum sensory experience for me. Like a good glass of wine, I get lost in the color, bathe in the aroma, and relish the taste and texture of your scenes. Your give your protagonist characters a rich personality that I can’t help but instantly root for. While Bette and Tina initially drew me this this site and your stories, I really enjoy your other characters just as much.
Aerin virtually stole the words out of my mouth. If I had a professor like Rian during my undergraduate years, perhaps I would have gotten better than a C+ in my Art History class. I may have even been persuaded to change majors with such impassioned lectures.
As I was reading the dialogue between Jade and Rian’s mom, I was thinking that’s the type of mom I wish we had and we all would become. Well done.
Enjoyed it. Thought TJ was headed for a bad fall. Who’s this Kaci? No drama for Bette and Tina please. Thanks
Sky loved the chapter. Love to read more of Bette and Tina but your on a good path.
I normally am only interested in Bette and Tina stories, but not with this one im loving all your characters , and story lines, i can”t wait to read more. Thank you
Thanks for all your comments don70! Am glad you and others enjoy reading about these characters and am happy you find the different storylines they inhabit interesting. Please do continue to let me know your thoughts as this story progresses – based on actual places and people – as we explore what it means to love, and be stripped bare even if fully-clothed, before another.
Genuine art has the power to strengthen the spirit of the people.
I loved Rian lecture, I applaud the end of the lecture.
And please do not let Tina looks at this Kaci, from what I read,
I realized, it will happen.
The complete constellation.
