Love in Control – Chapter II – Savannah (Part 2)

“Great! So you can join us?” Tina asked.

“Yes, I can. Thanks for inviting me ….”

Angie interrupted Kaci. “Yay! Kaci’s joining us! Now we can really thank you. Maybe we can take you to one of our favorite places … can we mommy?”

Tina smiled down at her daughter. “Sure, baby. Why don’t you ask Kaci if she’d like to go there?”

“You like sushi, Kaci?” Angie asked with what she hoped was a winning smile.

“Sushi?” Kaci asked, visibly surprised at the choice. She was half-expecting a pasta place or something similar that kids, such as her cousin’s daughter, liked.

“We don’t have to do sushi if…” Tina answered immediately.

“No. No. Not what I meant. I was simply surprised because I was expecting…um… something more along the lines of what kids from where I live would have asked for … but sushi’s fine, Angelica,” Kaci interrupted Tina, and then bent to get closer to Angie’s eye level as if to assure her.

Tina smiled at the two and took hold of one of TJ’s hands. “Good! That’s settled, then.   Hope you don’t mind walking there?”

“No, I love to walk! I don’t get to walk around much where I live now,” Kaci answered. She smiled down at Angie and lightly gripped the little girl’s hand as it sought hers.

They walked down the path in pairs, with Tina and TJ walking ahead and Angie and Kaci bringing up the rear.

“Where do you live?” Tina asked over her shoulder.

“Kansas City,” Kaci answered. “For the past four years.”

    “Before that?” Tina followed up.

    Kaci didn’t answer immediately.

Their new friend remained quiet for half a minute longer and then Tina’s phone rang, so she pulled it out of her bag. It was William.

She and William talked the entire time it took for their group to get to the restaurant.

Since it was not even six in the evening, yet, they found that the popular restaurant, which was a neighborhood favorite, was only half-filled. After she ended her call with William, Tina spoke with the matire d, who’d greeted them enthusiastically and seated them in one of the private booths towards the back of the restaurant.

As they were seated, a quick thought occurred to Tina that Kaci hadn’t answered the question about where she’d lived before Kansas City, but the blonde forgot it quickly as she accepted the menus the friendly waiter had brought over.

    1. So pleased to read your story!

I don’t care that it isn’t a traditional Bette and Tina story line, but i wouldn’t mind if you give them more time in it ;-)

That was such a heart warming talk between Jade and Rian’s mom.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. It was a little early for my Pinot Noir, but well worth it, as it perfectly paired with your story. In fact, all of your stories are a full-spectrum sensory experience for me. Like a good glass of wine, I get lost in the color, bathe in the aroma, and relish the taste and texture of your scenes. Your give your protagonist characters a rich personality that I can’t help but instantly root for. While Bette and Tina initially drew me this this site and your stories, I really enjoy your other characters just as much.

Aerin virtually stole the words out of my mouth. If I had a professor like Rian during my undergraduate years, perhaps I would have gotten better than a C+ in my Art History class. I may have even been persuaded to change majors with such impassioned lectures.

As I was reading the dialogue between Jade and Rian’s mom, I was thinking that’s the type of mom I wish we had and we all would become. Well done.

    3. I normally am only interested in Bette and Tina stories, but not with this one im loving all your characters , and story lines, i can”t wait to read more. Thank you

      • Thanks for all your comments don70! Am glad you and others enjoy reading about these characters and am happy you find the different storylines they inhabit interesting. Please do continue to let me know your thoughts as this story progresses – based on actual places and people – as we explore what it means to love, and be stripped bare even if fully-clothed, before another.

    4. Genuine art has the power to strengthen the spirit of the people.
I loved Rian lecture, I applaud the end of the lecture.
And please do not let Tina looks at this Kaci, from what I read,
      I realized, it will happen.
      The complete constellation.
