Love in Control – Chapter VIII – Will You Marry Me?

“Rian’s mom is coming in by train shortly, and we’ve planned a little surprise party in their hotel suite. Rian’s left a key card to their room to let Jules and Diane in while she and Jade are out here.  Rian said something about stopping by a spot on a bridge in Central Park, and then they’ll grab a cab to head over to the hotel.  Jules and Diane are getting things ready even as we speak …”

    “WHAT???!!!”

People on their side of the terrace turned to look at Bette, Tina, Morgan, and Brom with bemused faces.

Bette frowned. “Why?  What did you and Jade plan?”

“I’m having the big screens in Time Square synchronized to flash “Will you marry me?” after the regular light show they normally have there around midnight. Their hotel room overlooks the biggest screens for that reason alone.  So Jade’s supposed to pop the question then!  When the question flashes on all those screens!”

“But that’s still over two hours from now!” Bette exclaimed. “Rian could pop the question well ahead of that!”

“I know! I know!” Tina was approaching panic.  It had taken a lot of string-pulling, pleading, promising, and a whole lot of favors to get the screens to flash that sign all at the same time, and now …

Bette had whipped out her phone, thumbing through her recent calls, as Tina started to curse under her breath. Soon Bette had Jules on the phone.  As she walked away to talk to their friend, her arms waving around in an agitated manner, Tina followed closely behind, reminding Bette that Jade’s plans for the night were the ones that were harder to change.  “Bette, there is no way I can change everything we’ve arranged for those signs to pop in all those screens in Times Square ….”

Brom and Morgan watched the two, striving to keep from smiling, as Bette and Tina paced around, having forgotten about teasing Brom now, and clearly stressed about how plans they were helping to execute for Rian’s and Jade’s big moment were apparently unraveling, to their huge dismay.

It really was nothing to smile about, and, if Bette and Tina couldn’t fix things quickly, the night wasn’t likely going the way the younger sexy couple, now reuniting in the other end of the terrace after a couple of hours of role-play, had evidently individually planned for without coordinating with anyone. Poor Jade and Rian, blissfully unaware that the plans they each had to surprise the other with a proposal could sink one or both surprises!

    1. Oh, that was absolute worth the long wait!

Fantastic and sexy chapter, wouldn’t mind if you write more B&T in your story.

But Rian and Jade captured my heart, they are a great couple.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. You can be sure that yes, it was worth the wait
      for another fantastic chapter!
My heart always Tibette, however Jade and Rian captivated me.
      The whole universe

    3. Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. A few caveats: the story arc for “Love In Control” will not have much Bette/Tina romance, although there will be occasional scenes. Their story is evolving in this book — the evolution will see them in a family unit, rather than as a couple. This particular arc started with scenes in earlier chapters, and will be more central in the next chapters. I think I’ve gone over their romance (exhaustively) in the other books already, anyway, and I really don’t have much more to say about “Tibette” than what I’ve already written in the other books.

I sense that it’s time that they evolve and mature in my stories, as characters, otherwise, their story arc will not make much sense if they remain struck in TiBette-land (at least in my storyline). To be perfectly honest, an evolving, maturing Bette/Tina, in the way I’ve been writing about them, is infinitely more interesting for me to write. I can sense them growing, and it seems to be as part of a family unit: this evolution is more authentic and important in this book than “TiBette.” it’s the other couples, in the meantime, who will be developing their own romances.

In the end this book is about a few kinds of love, what they mean, etc., but make no mistake the evolving Bette/Tina take on love remains the central/anchoring one for this book, particularly as things take a turn in the next chapters.

i may disappoint many of the readers who take the time to click through the pages of this story … I hope they will understand that I really can’t write a story if it’s not something I believe in or can stand behind, or would even want to read myself. I have moved on, and have explored the limits of that particular time in their lives through several books already, and so have the Bette and Tina characters in my storylines. They are different now from who they were in the TiBette version of the earlier books from who they seem to be growing into —

maybe I should re-classify this book to another fandom, different from “L Word” even if Bette and Tina and their family are central characters?

I seem to be raising expectations by slotting this book under “L Word.” And that’s not fair to you, the readers.

    4. While Bette and Tina originally attracted me to your writing, your Jade/Rain and Aerin/Harley characters have captivated me. Their unexplored characters are ripe with endless plot lines. Don’t apologize for the lack of TiBette romance, as your other characters and your writing are rich enough to sustain my appetite for a romantic escape.
