Love in Control – Chapter VIII – Will You Marry Me?

When they had walked out of sight, she took a seat across from Jade. “Alone at last, huh?” she murmured, smirking at Jade who was looking at her with undisguised interest, as if drinking in every feature of this new persona.  “My name’s Nikki.”

“Ni-Nikki?” Those jade green eyes dropped to the low-cut décolletage and the delicious curves of two fleshy mounds peeking out. Where in the world did Rian get this outrageously sexy dress?! she wondered for for the umpteenth time tonight. Something Morgan pull out from that boutique she mentioned?

    “Uh-huh, Nikki. That’s my name – tonight.”

Jade struggled to summon a comeback.

“So, sexy … are you seeing anyone?”  Rian-broke into her thoughts as Nikki, and licked her lips slowly and rested her elbows on the table, leaning forward slightly.

    Jade was still scrambling. “I-I am.   She’s… uh… my … I…I…”

    “She as pretty?”

Nikki’s fingers were walking over the table, heading for Jade. “Or as sexy as you are –“

Jade swallowed and breathe a steadying breath out. “Way above me, in fact.  When I first saw her walking up to me one sunny morning, the Grand Tetons forming this amazing backdrop behind her, she took my breath away.  I thought then that she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen …and she was, until …”

Rian blushed, and for a moment, her veneer as Nikki dropped.

“Until I saw her walk into the bar downstairs ….and, again, like she does every day, she made my heart stop. For real.  I mean… I…couldn’t believe this woman was my love …”

Jade sucked a breath in when she felt Rian run the tip of a high heel up the inseam of her tight ath-leisure pants.

    “I’m seeing someone, too.”

    “You are?”

“Uh huh. And once, when I tried to push her away, fighting her to get her to leave me while I was dealing with pretty bad stuff a few years ago, she told me, “Every love story is about two people finding each other.  You found me; I found you.  Neither of us is leaving this.”

A waiter came by. He inquired whether they wanted to order another round of drinks.  The women were staring into each other’s eyes intensely, and appeared not to have noticed.

    1. Oh, that was absolute worth the long wait!

Fantastic and sexy chapter, wouldn’t mind if you write more B&T in your story.

But Rian and Jade captured my heart, they are a great couple.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. You can be sure that yes, it was worth the wait
      for another fantastic chapter!
My heart always Tibette, however Jade and Rian captivated me.
      The whole universe

    3. Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. A few caveats: the story arc for “Love In Control” will not have much Bette/Tina romance, although there will be occasional scenes. Their story is evolving in this book — the evolution will see them in a family unit, rather than as a couple. This particular arc started with scenes in earlier chapters, and will be more central in the next chapters. I think I’ve gone over their romance (exhaustively) in the other books already, anyway, and I really don’t have much more to say about “Tibette” than what I’ve already written in the other books.

I sense that it’s time that they evolve and mature in my stories, as characters, otherwise, their story arc will not make much sense if they remain struck in TiBette-land (at least in my storyline). To be perfectly honest, an evolving, maturing Bette/Tina, in the way I’ve been writing about them, is infinitely more interesting for me to write. I can sense them growing, and it seems to be as part of a family unit: this evolution is more authentic and important in this book than “TiBette.” it’s the other couples, in the meantime, who will be developing their own romances.

In the end this book is about a few kinds of love, what they mean, etc., but make no mistake the evolving Bette/Tina take on love remains the central/anchoring one for this book, particularly as things take a turn in the next chapters.

i may disappoint many of the readers who take the time to click through the pages of this story … I hope they will understand that I really can’t write a story if it’s not something I believe in or can stand behind, or would even want to read myself. I have moved on, and have explored the limits of that particular time in their lives through several books already, and so have the Bette and Tina characters in my storylines. They are different now from who they were in the TiBette version of the earlier books from who they seem to be growing into —

maybe I should re-classify this book to another fandom, different from “L Word” even if Bette and Tina and their family are central characters?

I seem to be raising expectations by slotting this book under “L Word.” And that’s not fair to you, the readers.

    4. While Bette and Tina originally attracted me to your writing, your Jade/Rain and Aerin/Harley characters have captivated me. Their unexplored characters are ripe with endless plot lines. Don’t apologize for the lack of TiBette romance, as your other characters and your writing are rich enough to sustain my appetite for a romantic escape.
