“Tina, dinner’s ready.”

Tina opened up her eyes and Bette could see she was disorientated. She walked away and gave her some space to wake up.

“Hey, how long did I sleep?”

“As long as you needed to. Dinner’s ready, so you can dig in. Unless you want to freshen yourself up or take a shower. I can wait.”

“I would love to freshen myself up, so please if you don’t mind waiting.”

“No I don’t. I left you some clean clothes on the bed. Let me show you.” Bette showed Tina the way to her bedroom and the way to the bathroom. She left her to get freshened up.
Tina changed her mind and took a quick shower since Bette had put some clean clothes and underware for her. After she showered she felt a lot better.

“Thank you, this was just what I needed. What did you cook? And sorry that I crashed on your couch…..that’s embarrasing.”

“No it’s not. You were tired and I’m your friend……….that is……..if that’s okay with you…….” Bette didn’t look at Tina when she made that last remark. She didn’t want Tina to see that she would love for them to be friends. Honestly, she wanted to be more than friends with Tina. Tina on her turn touched Bette’s arm and said: “look at me……”
Bette looked at Tina and she completely lost herself in her green eyes.

“I want us to be friends too…………..let’s have dinner, I’m starving.” When Tina saw Bette’s eyes, she saw what she needed to see. Her dream was just a dream……..

Bette was glad that Tina changed the subject to dinner. She told Tina that she made them some pasta with fish and she hoped she would like it. Tina said she loved pasta. Bette reminded herself to make a mental note of this statement.

Dinner was nice. Tina complimented Bette on her cooking skills and Bette beamed. When they finished dinner, Tina insisted on cleaning the table and doing the dishes. Whatever Bette said, Tina didn’t want to hear of it. She took care of the dishes and she allowed Bette to dry them and put them away. So when everything was clean and stored, Bette asked Tina if she wanted coffee or tea. Tina wanted tea. Bette made some tea and when that was taken care of, she took a seat in a chair across from Tina.
