“So you wanna share what caused your rough night?”

When Bette asked that question, Tina looked away and her eyes filled with tears. Bette noticed this and in one step she was on her knees trying to comfort Tina.

“Tee, it’s okay. If you don’t want to share, it’s okay. But I’m asking you as a friend. Maybe I can help.” Bette was on her knees, sitting in front of Tina. She held her hands and tried to look Tina in the eye.

Tina turned around and looked into Bette’s eyes. All she could see was tenderness. That’s when her tears came down. Bette stood up and sat beside Tina. She pulled her close and soothed her.

“Hey, hey, hey, what’s so bad that’s causing you to cry? Please share, can I help you?”

Tina felt secured and soothed being held by Bette. So when her tears dried she told Bette she was ready to share her story. But she wanted to stay where she was. Bette didn’t mind because she loved the way Tina smelled and she loved the way it felt to hold her that close.

“Last night, Tina started, I had this weird dream. I dreamed that you told me you didn’t love me the way I love you and that you were not into women. It really shook me up because I like you…..” that’s when Tina lifted her head up and looked Bette in the eye. She needed to see for a second time the expression in Bette’s eyes after these words. And the only way to see that was in the eyes of the beholder.
What Tina saw took her breath away……….

Bette on the other hand was flabbergested. Did she hear Tina say that she didn’t love her? What gave her that idea?

Bette’s voice was raspy when she asked Tina what gave her the idea that she didn’t love her.

“I don’t know. I woke up and I cried. I kept telling myself it was only a dream. But then I wanted to see you and look into your eyes. Then I would know if my dream was true or not.”

“And is it true, your dream?”

Tina looked at Bette again and then shook her head.

“No she wispered.”
