Private Duty—Chapter 1

***************
Bette sat with Theresa until she fell asleep and went to find Tina. She walked down to the guest bedroom and didn’t see her in there then went downstairs where she heard her in the kitchen. Bette stood in the entrance way to see Tina leaned over the kitchen sink crying uncontrollably.
”Tina?” Bette called out softly.
Tina shook her head and couldn’t look at Bette knowing what she had done to her all those years ago.
”Tina? It’s ok. That was over 20 years ago and I survived those 5 years of hell. My sister Kit found me and took me away from there. I have a good life now and I love my job. I’m happy” Bette said honestly.
Tina tried hard to dry her tears and catch her breath. Bette walked up behind her gently placing her hand on Tina’s back and began a soothing and comforting rub.
Tina turned to look at Bette with a tear stained face.
”It’s not ok. I’m so sorry. I didn’t think that what I did would cause such a horrible thing to happen to you. You didn’t deserve that. I have never forgiven myself and it was never far from my mind. When I saw you today I couldn’t shake this feeling that I knew you. I’m so sorry” Tina said through a shaky voice.
”I had years of therapy to get over the trauma. I was angry for a long time but I also forgave you. I had to or it was going to eat me alive. You were only 9 and I realized that I freaked you out so I also blamed myself” Bette said as she led Tina to the table to sit down and sat in the chair beside her.
Tina shook her head.
”Bette? I can’t forgive myself. When I finally told my mother the truth, they tried to look for you but you got lost in the foster care system. They couldn’t find your paperwork and we didn’t know where to look. It wasn’t until your sister found you that they contacted us and told us you were treated inhumanely by the family that took you in and kept you locked in that cellar for five years with those two other children. They wouldn’t let us contact you after that and we didn’t know where you had ended up” Tina said sadly and began to cry again

I remember this so pleased to see it back and look forward to you continuing it and completing it.
Happy New Year, stay safe

Happy New Year to you SG! You stay safe!
This is a good beginning…. but please do not abandon your other story….. I so want to see what happens to Bette and Tina in that one as well as this one…..
I am going to have to start taking notes on all the stories that are in progress… I love reading them all, but I get somewhat frustrated when they suddenly end with no ending…. I get particularly frustrated when the story goes on for many months and chapters and then suddenly just stops – then years go by and nothing. And then suddenly the author will start to write again and starts one or two or three stories with no mention of the saga which I have been waiting for for months perhaps years. And the strange thing is that the stories are good and seem to be so close to completion. Another couple of chapters maybe????
Totally understand your frustration Martha!…If you are referring to Stolen Hearts it only has one chapter remaining for that book. I should post it soon. I have not decided to do a sequel. It would depend on demand. As far as Soul Dancing that one is far from over. This one however I have been writing on and it’s almost finished. It could warrant a sequel..but again.. that would be up to you the readers
Thank you for the comment!
I completely echo your comments.
A Happy and Healthy New Year Martha
Gr8 story. Sometimes forgiving ones’ self is a monumental task. Breaking patterns of self-hatred take more than a little bit internal tenacity. Tina will ultimately have to let Bette help her through the guilt and pain. And even Theresa will have to let Bette show her kindness.
Looking forward to more chapters!
Great story.. I hope to read more, please.
I remember this story and i am glad you have almost written all the chapters and yes i would love to read a sequel!
And of course I will read the other stories!
Happy New Year!
This is a really good chapter. Great beginning to a very intriguing story. Bette is very forgiving.
