Private Duty—Chapter 1

Tina headed back up the stairs and heard Bette talking. She peeped her head I’m the door to see Bette reading Theresa a book. Tina walked in as Bette saw her out of the corner of her eye and stopped reading closing the book.
”I was just reading to her. Hope that is ok. She woke up and I asked her if she wanted me to read to her and she blinked once. She loves mystery novels huh?” Bette asked
”Oh it’s fine. Yes she loves mystery novels” Tina said looking at Theresa who was staring at Bette.
”Mom?” Tina said as Theresa cut her eyes to Tina. ”Are you ok with Bette taking care of you?”
Theresa blinked once and then looked back at Bette
”Mom?” Tina called out as Bette chuckled
Theresa cut her eyes back at Tina.
”Do you want me to leave you alone so Bette can read to you?”
Theresa blinked once and looked back at Bette causing Tina to chuckle
”Well she’s smitten with you. That didn’t take long” Tina said stunned that her mother took to Bette so fast
”I have Stephen King in my hand. I think that may be what has her smitten” Bette said looking at Tina as Tina walked around to see Theresa blink twice.
”Well she just blinked twice. Mom? Does Bette have you smitten?”
Theresa blinked once
”Well there you go. Poor Stephen King has no chance as long as you are the one that is reading to her” Tina chuckled
Bette smiled and shook her head at Tina then turned to Theresa.
”Would you rather Tina read to you so you can spend some time with your daughter?” Bette asked as Theresa blinked twice.
Tina scoffed then smiled
”Well Thanks Mom. I love you too. I need to run. I have to show a house later and I need to go get dressed. I’ll check in later” Tina said giving Theresa a kiss on her cheek and waiving at Bette on the way out.
Bette looked at Theresa.
”Well Ms. Kennard. Shall we get back and read to see what happens?”
Theresa blinked once and Bette began reading to her again.
****************
It was Friday evening and Tina fumbled with her keys finally getting the right key to enter through the door of her mothers house. She placed the Chinese food in her arms on the kitchen table and headed up the stairs to the other guest room and placed her bag on the bed. Tina then headed down the hall to her mother’s room and knocked.

I remember this so pleased to see it back and look forward to you continuing it and completing it.
Happy New Year, stay safe
SG
Happy New Year to you SG! You stay safe!
This is a good beginning…. but please do not abandon your other story….. I so want to see what happens to Bette and Tina in that one as well as this one…..
I am going to have to start taking notes on all the stories that are in progress… I love reading them all, but I get somewhat frustrated when they suddenly end with no ending…. I get particularly frustrated when the story goes on for many months and chapters and then suddenly just stops – then years go by and nothing. And then suddenly the author will start to write again and starts one or two or three stories with no mention of the saga which I have been waiting for for months perhaps years. And the strange thing is that the stories are good and seem to be so close to completion. Another couple of chapters maybe????
Totally understand your frustration Martha!…If you are referring to Stolen Hearts it only has one chapter remaining for that book. I should post it soon. I have not decided to do a sequel. It would depend on demand. As far as Soul Dancing that one is far from over. This one however I have been writing on and it’s almost finished. It could warrant a sequel..but again.. that would be up to you the readers
Thank you for the comment!
I completely echo your comments.
A Happy and Healthy New Year Martha
Gr8 story. Sometimes forgiving ones’ self is a monumental task. Breaking patterns of self-hatred take more than a little bit internal tenacity. Tina will ultimately have to let Bette help her through the guilt and pain. And even Theresa will have to let Bette show her kindness.
Looking forward to more chapters!
Great story.. I hope to read more, please.
I remember this story and i am glad you have almost written all the chapters and yes i would love to read a sequel!
And of course I will read the other stories!
Happy New Year!
This is a really good chapter. Great beginning to a very intriguing story. Bette is very forgiving.
