Private Duty—Chapter 1

Bette shook her head.
”That won’t be necessary. I’m not a big TV person. I would rather curl up with a good book anyway. I brought plenty to keep me occupied on my down time” Bette answered looking at the pictures on the mantle
”Ok then. Well I think I have pretty much covered everything. I will be staying here on the weekends since those two days you will be off. My sister and I have gotten good at taking care of her with our tag teaming so you can get out and take some time for yourself” Tina sat down on the sofa ”Are you married or dating anyone? The reason I ask is that you can have them visit you as long as you let me and my sister know. There is a guest house in the back. You both could stay there when you are off duty”
Bette turned away from the pictures and looked at Tina and chuckled
”I am not seeing anyone at the moment. I recently broke up with my partner so you won’t need to worry about that”
Tina nodded her head ”Oh. I’m sorry. I understand as I just broke up with my boyfriend as he couldn’t deal with me spending all my time with my mother these last few weeks. You would think he would have understood but my family comes first”
”That’s the way it should be. I see too often in my job where the families of my patients don’t even come to visit. I’m glad to be in a home now where they are their top priority” Bette said as the two briefly smiled at each other before Tina turned away and grabbed her purse.
”Well I think we are lucky to have you and my mother is going to be in very good hands. I need to run to the store and get some things. Do you need anything?..Oh and help yourself to anything we gave in the kitchen”
”Thanks. And no. I don’t think I need anything. I’ll go this weekend and get some things if needed. Thanks. Ms. Kennard”
”Please call me Tina. Ms. Kennard makes me sound like my mother. I love her dearly but I’m not ready to be addressed that way yet” Tina chuckled

I remember this so pleased to see it back and look forward to you continuing it and completing it.
Happy New Year, stay safe
SG
Happy New Year to you SG! You stay safe!
This is a good beginning…. but please do not abandon your other story….. I so want to see what happens to Bette and Tina in that one as well as this one…..
I am going to have to start taking notes on all the stories that are in progress… I love reading them all, but I get somewhat frustrated when they suddenly end with no ending…. I get particularly frustrated when the story goes on for many months and chapters and then suddenly just stops – then years go by and nothing. And then suddenly the author will start to write again and starts one or two or three stories with no mention of the saga which I have been waiting for for months perhaps years. And the strange thing is that the stories are good and seem to be so close to completion. Another couple of chapters maybe????
Totally understand your frustration Martha!…If you are referring to Stolen Hearts it only has one chapter remaining for that book. I should post it soon. I have not decided to do a sequel. It would depend on demand. As far as Soul Dancing that one is far from over. This one however I have been writing on and it’s almost finished. It could warrant a sequel..but again.. that would be up to you the readers
Thank you for the comment!
I completely echo your comments.
A Happy and Healthy New Year Martha
Gr8 story. Sometimes forgiving ones’ self is a monumental task. Breaking patterns of self-hatred take more than a little bit internal tenacity. Tina will ultimately have to let Bette help her through the guilt and pain. And even Theresa will have to let Bette show her kindness.
Looking forward to more chapters!
Great story.. I hope to read more, please.
I remember this story and i am glad you have almost written all the chapters and yes i would love to read a sequel!
And of course I will read the other stories!
Happy New Year!
This is a really good chapter. Great beginning to a very intriguing story. Bette is very forgiving.
