The Conversion

Tina: Why don’t we find that in-door pool and take a swim?
Bette: Sounds good. I’ll ask Josh where it is.
Josh came out with a coffee warm up and we asked him about the pool. He said that it was at the other end of the camp and that we should take a golf cart over there. The carts have special enclosures to keep the wind out. The temperature outdoors was still in the teens. The Marines were busy cleaning the roads and the pathways of the snow so that vehicles could access the roads. The staff would ask the Marines to unlock the facility and notify them that we would be there this morning. The butler would supply us with some hand warmers to keep us comfortable for the trip over and the trip back. He also informed us that there were dressing rooms and showers complete with towels and soaps and shampoos and hair dryers for our convenience. Since the electricity had been on since the afternoon before, the temperature should be comfortable. The staff will go ahead and set the thermostat to a comfortable temperature while we were there. That would be done via computer by the butler staff.
Bette: Sounds like a spa.
Josh: In a way, it is. I believe you will enjoy it.
Tina: Thank you.
Bette: I need to go through a little grooming routine before we go. But I will be ready to leave about 10?
Tina: I need some private time as well. I’ll enjoy the fire place while you are in the bathroom. Or maybe I’ll use the other bathroom if time becomes an issue.
Bette: Well dress warmly for the trip over. Do we wear our suits over and carry our underwear for afterwards or do we carry our suits and change over there?
Tina: Let’s just carry our underwear with us. Maybe Josh has some plastic bags we could use.
Bette: Well, I hope I do not scare you but after my swim, I will not have any makeup on.
Tina: So, did you have makeup on when you woke up this morning?
Bette: Well, no.
Tina: You didn’t scare me then. I don’t think you are going to scare me later. Bette, you look fine with or without makeup. Just do what you want to do. It will be fine.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!
Thank you so much, a beautiful story.
I look forward to the next one.
Janice24,
First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?
Thank for reading and for commenting on this story… until I saw your comments, I didn’t think anyone had read it…. Thank you for your support and encouragement…
OMG! How did I let this gem get past me. I loved every word. I would love to read something else from you, thank you so much for your talent.
OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website. Go to the story search page, put my name in under author (Martha3128) and they are all listed.
