The Conversion

Bette: Thank you Tina. I do feel very relaxed around you and that is really nice.
Tina: That’s good. I’m really comfortable around you. I don’t feel that I have to edit my thoughts or my speech or the way I look with you. That is a refreshing feeling.
Bette: Yes, I feel like I have known you for a very long time yet we just met a couple of days ago.
Tina: I get that feeling as well.
We finished our breakfast and went and sat in front of the fire to have our second or third cup of coffee. Bette excused herself and went to do her morning routine. I decided to use the bathroom in my guest room rather than to wait on Bette. We both emerge dressed in jeans and a sweater with our bag of clothes for after our swim. We put on our winter coats, scarf and gloves for our journey. Andy escorted us to the attached garage with several golf carts. One had been readied for our use. He opened the garage door and we drove down the path to the road through the campus. Bette drove. The pavilion like building was on a turn off road and at the most northern end of the campus. There was a car port which we pulled up into and shut off our machine. We then walked into the building just like we owned it. We were greeted with a huge Olympic size pool which was had the view of a forested area through floor to ceiling glass panels. There were exposed beam ceiling in an Adirondack style stained in a medium brown color. There were tables and chairs well-spaced around the pool for meetings or refreshments for the guest to the pool. There was an echo in the room since there was no one around but Bette and I. Bette indicated that the dressing room were to the right and started in that direction.
We found that not only did the dressing room have a plethora of white fluffy towels, they also had robes to wear to and from the pool. Each robe had a shield with the logo for Camp David. There were also some shower shoes which I thought was rather thoughtful. Bette and I choose our dressing rooms and went in and removed our outer clothing. I had my swimsuit under my clothes and my fresh underwear in my bag. Each dressing cubical had a bench on one wall with towels. Then on the other wall was a several hooks to hang clothing. At the end of the cubical was the shower stall which had a shower head and a hand-held shower head which provided privacy for the guest. The cubical had a hook on the back of the door which had the robe which could be used while in the pool area. There was a group of toilet cubicles beyond the dressing cubicles. And there was a wall of sinks and vanity and mirrors. On one wall was a cabinet which held the shower shoes, the swim caps, the hair dryers and a few curling irons. There were some packages of comb and brushes and some toothbrush and paste kits. Needless to say, I was impressed at what Camp David had supplied for the convenience of its guests.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.

I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!
Thank you so much, a beautiful story.
I look forward to the next one.
Janice24,
First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?
Thank for reading and for commenting on this story… until I saw your comments, I didn’t think anyone had read it…. Thank you for your support and encouragement…
OMG! How did I let this gem get past me. I loved every word. I would love to read something else from you, thank you so much for your talent.
OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website.
