Bette: What is going on in your mind Miss Tina?
Tina: I just wonder if my life would be different had I dated women in college rather than men?
Bette: Yes and No. Yes, if you really are attracted to women. No, if you really are attracted to men. People gravitate toward people who are like ourselves. Do you have any close male friends?
Tina: No, I don’t.
Bette: I do. But they are both gay. None of the women in my circle are straight, they are all gay. Kit is about the only straight woman I associate with on a regular basis outside of work. I dated a few straight women who were gay curious, but they were purely a part of my sex-capades period. Generally, I won’t even consider dating a straight woman.
Tina: So why are you considering dating me?
Bette: You have been in my bed, several times. And last night, you put your wha-who squarely on my butt. A strictly straight girl would never do that. A strictly straight girl would never share a bed with someone they know to be a lesbian and didn’t know very well, period; unless it were life or death. They would have volunteered for the sofa first. You seem to be past the just curious stage and you are a very interesting person to be around, so yes, I am definitely interested. And you too have expressed an interest in me and it’s not based on sex.
Tina: That doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it.
Bette: That is good to know. But I think that I detected signs that you have thought about sex. If you are really interested in me, you wouldn’t be normal unless you had thought about it. Just shows you are a normal human.
Tina: Does that mean you have thought about having sex with me?
Bette: I am going to take the fifth on that…. I guess I really need to answer that. Yes. There have been times in which I really wanted to just ravish you, but you are definitely not ready for that. And I’m not sure that I am ready for that either.
Tina: And when will you know you will be ready?
Bette: When I know that you know that having a woman in your life is what you want and need to make you a complete person. I do not think you are there yet. Once that is established, then it will be up to me to show you that I am that woman. Of course, you will have the plurality of the votes and in the end, it will all be up to you choose me or to move on to someone else.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!

First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?

OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website.
