The Conversion

Bette: You know, I feel the same way. Tina, I’d like to see you. Do you think we could arrange something?
Tina: I want to see you as well. Why don’t you come to Austin. You can meet my dogs and we could hash out this collaborative partnership.
Bette: Tina, have I given you enough time for you to consider what changes you are about to engage in?
Tina: Yes. I believe that after my conversation with Alice, that I am ready to see where this takes us. I think I was somewhat shocked when Alice’s response was more of how this would affect her relationship with me rather than if this would make me happy. She is my best friend and her first thought was how this would affect her. I imagine that everyone else I know will have pretty much the same response. So, I need to do what I believe to be best for me and my future and my happiness. And Bette, that means I want to take a chance with you. And even if we do not make it to happily ever after, I will know that I have been given a gift in knowing an incredible individual in one Bette Porter. It’s time for me to pursue my happiness, Bette. And I need to walk through this doorway and allow things to be what they are going to be. I really do not care what others think, I want you in my life and whatever else comes? Well, I’ll deal with it as we go. And I am certain that this is where I want to go.
Bette: Thank you Tina. Thank you for choosing me. I cannot promise you a happily ever after scenario, but I am certain willing to take a chance.
Tina: So, would you like to come here, or would you rather I come visit you?
Bette: Suppose I come to see you. Maybe I can stay for a long weekend say in about two weeks or so. We will talk some more about this. In the meantime, let me get busy on this collaborative partnership agreement. Tina, I do miss you. You have a nice day.
Tina: I miss you too. And I look forward to your visit.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!
Thank you so much, a beautiful story.
I look forward to the next one.
Janice24,
First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?
Thank for reading and for commenting on this story… until I saw your comments, I didn’t think anyone had read it…. Thank you for your support and encouragement…
OMG! How did I let this gem get past me. I loved every word. I would love to read something else from you, thank you so much for your talent.
OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website. Go to the story search page, put my name in under author (Martha3128) and they are all listed.
