The Conversion

The meal was very pleasant. Once it was over, the Bidens wished us a good night’s sleep and then promptly excused themselves. Mark excused himself to accompany the Bidens to their suite. Helena said that Mark was President Biden’s personal valet and was needed to make sure that they had what they needed for their night. He would return after the Bidens retired for the night.
Helena then offered to get us some coffee or tea to finish off our meal. We declined. She then offered to give us a tour of the residence which we gladly accepted. Bette then requested to go to the bathroom before we started our tour. So, Helena escorted us back to our rooms. She then interviewed us as to what clothing we would need for the weekend. She made notes of our sizes. Bette decided that perhaps we could postpone our tour until the next morning. Helena then asked if she could get us anything and then said goodnight. Before she left, she gave us the phone number of the Head Butler. He would be glad to get for us any beverages or snacks or supplies we might require during our visit to the White House. Also, if there were a medical emergency, he would call in medical professionals to assist. Someone manned the Head Butler’s line 24 hours a day.
Bette thanked Helena for her assistance and assured that she would see her in the morning. I remember that I was about to say goodnight, when Bette asked if I would join her in her sitting room for just a few minutes before retiring. I agreed.
In her sitting room was a small dorm refrigerator which had some water, juice, beer and other beverages in it. She offered me a water and I gladly accepted.
Bette: That was a lovely dinner, wasn’t it?
Tina: Yes, it was.
Bette: Tina, I do not know you very well. We just met a couple of hours ago. But it looks like that you and I are going to be together for the next couple of days. We are both here anticipating to write a book on Joe and Jill Biden. Now, they have indicated that they would like for us to do a collaboration on that book as opposed to getting into some competition and one of us doing that book by ourselves. How do you feel about that?

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!
Thank you so much, a beautiful story.
I look forward to the next one.
Janice24,
First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?
Thank for reading and for commenting on this story… until I saw your comments, I didn’t think anyone had read it…. Thank you for your support and encouragement…
OMG! How did I let this gem get past me. I loved every word. I would love to read something else from you, thank you so much for your talent.
OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website. Go to the story search page, put my name in under author (Martha3128) and they are all listed.
