    The Most Distant Course

    “Bette…”

“They waited with me outside the operation room for hours…which was the longest torture I’ve ever been through before. I was so afraid that the doctor would walk out and tell me that they did their best…and said that…”

    “Bette.”

The detective stops talking, but she doesn’t turn around.

“Bette,” Tina says, her voice is soft but firm. “Come here.”

Like a naughty child who was going to be punished, the brunette hesitates a bit but eventually walks back to the bed.

    “Bette? Look at me.”

    But Bette remains her position.

“Bette…baby…will you please look at me?”

The brown eyes finally meet the hazel pupils.

“None of that…happened because of you okay?”

Tina tries to caress the brunette’s face, but the bandage again limits her move, Bette immediately lean closer to the blonde and using her face to touch her lover’s hand, Tina smiles.

“I planned this…way before we started to rescue Shane, Faye Buckley and I, only one of us could live, and what I mean here is being free, I may be injured and there may be a hole on my shoulder, but all of these can heal. As long as I’m not in prison, I can tolerate everything…because I have you.”

The blonde takes a deep breath for a break, the pain is still affecting her body and mind, she tries to hold it back, not wanting Bette to get the doctor now for more pain killer, because this is their time, she doesn’t want to ruin it.

“I can’t tell anyone, you knew it. No one would agree with my plan if they knew I was going to face Faye Buckley myself. And I have to agree with the interrogation of the FBI, otherwise, the Governor would believe there was something wrong, because no one, no criminal like that would give herself in like that, a real criminal would run because it was basically suicide. In order to make my further plan succeed, some sacrifice has to be made…”

“But you still didn’t need to go on your own!”

“Bette…You are so smart, yes, I knew it’s extremely dangerous, and risky if the Government wouldn’t believe in Joyce’s word, if the Governor didn’t summon Helena, I might be still in the FBI…But as you can see, every step was going the way just like I planned, while we could catch Faye Buckley and Aaron Kornbluth, my injury didn’t seem too serious at all, don’t you think? Fairtrade.”

    1. Hi CJ,

      What a incredible good chapter!

At first i thought you skipped the part about Tina’s life in danger and moved fast forward to their future. And oh what a beautiful dream Tina had when she was fighting for her life. That is certainly a part i want to read more about! The interaction and pouting between Bette & Tina and Noah warmed my heart and made me laugh!

It was a well calculated risk Tina took, but at the end she is the absolute winner!!!

I hope to read what happened with Faye Buckley and Aaron Kornblunth and of course what happened with Candace.

I am a little sad that there will be only three chapters more on this incredible story!

Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent as writer and this story!

    2. Hi CJ:

Great chapter, that was very sweet, like Bibi, I thought that you skipped a whole chapter but then I realized about the wonderful dream of Tina.

Yes, it was hard but Tima made it, now we want to learn what happened with the evil people what about Buckley, Aaron, Candace.

I would like to see how the legal situation of Tina will be fixed.

And of course the happy ending.

      Wonderful story, my friend.

      Thanks and pps.

    3. Love it…after three weeks some of Tina’s superficial wounds and bruises should have healed. The deep wounds and the broken bones probably will take a lot longer. And considering her fragile health, its a wonder she survived at all. Bette needs to heal also. Can’t wait to hear about Faye Buckley, Aaron Kornbluth, and Candace Newell. Oh and what really happened to Shane? Did Max really kill her? Surely not! Is Tina now really in the clear – free to live her life as a normal person? What will happen to Bette and her job? Maybe she will leave law enforcement and do something else? I really hope the Cooper Family chapter is now truly closed.

This is a good story….I want Tina and Bette to make a home and life together. Thankyou for the update.

    4. Great Chapter!

You had me a bit at sea to start with but glad I persevered!

Mixed feelings about the story ending but really looking forward to your next post.

You are a talented storyteller, thanks for posting.
