    The Most Distant Course

“That was unusual, Lara used to be the one who’s the bravest.”

“I know, but she could barely say a word cause she couldn’t stop her tears falling off.”

“What about you? Bette? Did you cry like a baby?”

There is a pause when Tina realized she said something wrong, but it is too late.

Bette’s face falls, her fists clenched tightly together, eyebrows furrow deeply. Tina’s heart drops when Bette stands up and walks to the window, she regrets what she’s said in instant.

    “I’m sorry, B…” Tina says softly. “I didn’t mean to say that…”

There’s no response from the brunette, which makes Tina start to worried, she didn’t know this would have such a big impact on her fiancee. Seeing the Detective’s reaction, she then realized not only she has been beaten up, Bette also, has suffered by the trauma, only she was mental.

    “Bette, please…say something.”

Supporting her body by the window frame, Bette leans her forehead on the glass.

“I was…I was there all the time, T….”

    Bette takes a deep breath.

“I was there the entire time, seeing you being shot, seeing you being taken onto the ambulance when the paramedics put all those needles in your arms…You were barely breathing, but you were still asking about Noah…and Shane…”

Tina looks down as if she is suddenly interested in her mummy alike body, she says nothing, knowing what Bette needs now is to release the emotions she’s been holding for days.

“What were you thinking? T? You were almost dying and you were still thinking about others?”

That was neither cold or harsh, just a simple question, but Tina feels like there are several knives cutting in her heart. She knew she cannot blame Bette, it’s so much worse…when seeing your lover dying and you can do nothing for it.

“We almost lost you once when we arrived at the hospital, the doctor continued doing CPR, nurses were trying to stop the huge amount of blood, they said everything is under control, but it was bullshit before you were sent to the operation room, your heart stopped…”

    Tina closes her eyes.

    “Twice.”

Again, Bette wipes her face, not really sure whether to continue or not.

“Watching you being sent to the ambulance…operation room…the ICU…then back to the operation room for losing conscious again…I blame myself whenever I was awake, blamed myself for not convincing the Governor not to arrest you, blamed myself to let Faye Buckley had a chance to interrogate you…also, blamed myself for having come to you earlier…Even though the gangs told me it was not my fault, it was the fact that I carried most of the responsibilities.”

    1. Hi CJ,

      What a incredible good chapter!

At first i thought you skipped the part about Tina’s life in danger and moved fast forward to their future. And oh what a beautiful dream Tina had when she was fighting for her life. That is certainly a part i want to read more about! The interaction and pouting between Bette & Tina and Noah warmed my heart and made me laugh!

It was a well calculated risk Tina took, but at the end she is the absolute winner!!!

I hope to read what happened with Faye Buckley and Aaron Kornblunth and of course what happened with Candace.

I am a little sad that there will be only three chapters more on this incredible story!

Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent as writer and this story!

    2. Hi CJ:

Great chapter, that was very sweet, like Bibi, I thought that you skipped a whole chapter but then I realized about the wonderful dream of Tina.

Yes, it was hard but Tima made it, now we want to learn what happened with the evil people what about Buckley, Aaron, Candace.

I would like to see how the legal situation of Tina will be fixed.

And of course the happy ending.

      Wonderful story, my friend.

      Thanks and pps.

    3. Love it…after three weeks some of Tina’s superficial wounds and bruises should have healed. The deep wounds and the broken bones probably will take a lot longer. And considering her fragile health, its a wonder she survived at all. Bette needs to heal also. Can’t wait to hear about Faye Buckley, Aaron Kornbluth, and Candace Newell. Oh and what really happened to Shane? Did Max really kill her? Surely not! Is Tina now really in the clear – free to live her life as a normal person? What will happen to Bette and her job? Maybe she will leave law enforcement and do something else? I really hope the Cooper Family chapter is now truly closed.

This is a good story….I want Tina and Bette to make a home and life together. Thankyou for the update.

    4. Great Chapter!

You had me a bit at sea to start with but glad I persevered!

Mixed feelings about the story ending but really looking forward to your next post.

You are a talented storyteller, thanks for posting.
