William Halsey was standing on the stage with a microphone in his hand trying to get everyone’s attention. Next to him stood none other than Kate Arden elegantly dressed in a women’s tuxedo suit and looking as if she’d spent the day getting a full makeover. Tina was about to lunge out of her chair when Kate caught her eye from across the room and smirked. Bette was barely able to control her own self but she gently took Tina’s hand and both of them settled back into their seats. Bette leaned into Tina and whispered “Let’s hear what they have to say and wait to see how things play out. Trevor has security here. She’s not going anywhere before we have a chance to talk to her.” Tina nodded in agreement and kept hold of Bette’s hand.
“Hello everybody.” William started speaking into the microphone. “In case you don’t know me, I’m your host William Halsey. I want to welcome you all here tonight. This party is just my way of saying thank you for all your hard work.” William waited a few beats making sure he now had everyone’s attention before continuing with his impromptu speech. Neither Tina nor Sally knew that he’d be making one but he had a right since it was his movie and they were using his money to pay for the party.
“When I started investing in movie making I never imagined all the passion and creativity that it would bring into my life to say nothing of the beautiful women. He glanced over at the table where he’d been dining and waved and smiled at an attractive young brunette seated next to Aaron. The woman returned the smile and winked which caused William to blush and giggle like a schoolboy. Whoever she was, he was obviously smitten.
Tina didn’t recognize William’s date but she did recognize the two other women seated at the table and she saw the look of guilt on Aaron’s face when he caught her eye. Once again Bette felt the tension coming from Tina’s body; she’d unconsciously tightened her grip on Bette’s hand. Not knowing what upset her girlfriend this time she glanced over at Tina then followed her gaze to William’s table.
