    B&T Fiction Set in College. “I’m always thinking of you, T. Always. But please, don’t be such a party-pooper with your family. You’re only there for a week. Try to enjoy them.”

    Bette smiled and her dark eyes lit up as she spoke. “Oh come on. It’s fascinating to me. Looking at a piece of art is like looking through the eyes of the artist. Feeling what they feel. Seeing what they see. Every sculpture, every paint stroke tells a story. It’s like unraveling a magical mystery.”

    Richard sat his coffee mug down and smiled. “You make it sound wonderful.”

    “It is wonderful to me.”

    “So young, so passionate,” Richard replied.

    They sat and they chatted for a little while longer before Bette’s cell phone rang and her mother announced that she was ready to continue their tour. As they paid their tab and left the quaint coffee house, a sadness settled over Bette. She had really enjoyed Richard’s company. He was witty, easy to talk to, and his thoughts ran much deeper than his boxed blue eyes would have had her believe.

    Almost sensing his companion’s sadness, Richard gently touched Bette’s arm and said, “Don’t worry, we’ll get together again. I’ll take you out, show you some more of the city.”

    Bette smiled shyly, embarrassed that he’d read her emotions so easily. “Thanks, I’d like that,” she replied.

     

     

    Had Tina always been standoffish and she just hadn’t noticed it before?

    Had she done something to offend her?

    Was someone at school bothering her?

    What approach should she take to ensure Tina’s trust in her as a confidant?

    Stephen stood in the living room, still in his suit and tie and watched his wife’s heavy burden hang on her shoulders as she ascended the stairs. And whispering to no one in particular, he said “I’ll go talk to her.”

    When he rapped on the door, Tina was in her underwear with her phone in her hand and her thumb on the talk button. If he’d arrived a few moments later, that powerful thumb would have had her connected to Bette’s sweet voice in seconds.

    ‘You’ve gotta be kidding me,’ she thought to herself.

    “Who is it?” she asked.

    “It’s Dad.”

    “Just a sec. Let me finish changing.”

    When she was clothed, Tina opened the door to find her father’s winning smile.

    4. Hey MTS, Thanks for another great update. I hope Tina takes Bette’s advice and tries to enjoy her time at home instead of sitting around sulking. I’ve only seen Laurel Holloman in Angel (the tv series) and it was such a different vibe than Tina, but she still rocked the role. PPS!

    6. Hello MTS, Wonderful to have another fine and fabulous chapter from you. I just love how Bette and Tina’s worlds are opening up. Yes, they belong together and each know this but it doesn’t mean that they can’t experience the rest of the world. Bette need’s time to get to know her mother and her life. Good to see that Bette has an ally in Richard. I am sure he can guide her through the ups and downs of the NYC gay scene. And Tina does need to chill out and be herself around her Mom and Dad. There is a sense taht they both love and cherish her. OK being gay might be a shock to them and not the type of information they want broadcast around town but it is who Tina is. I do hope that if they find out then they remember that Tina is their child and deserves their love not matter who she loves. Just so heartfelt and emotional. I love every word. I jst can’t wait to read more of this delicious drama. Thank you so much for continuing this journey with Baby Bette and Tina. Your Loyal Fan.

    10. This story is so wonderfully written. The dynamics between Tina and Bette and their Moms are spot on to the situations you’ve laid out. I look forward to reading more and finding out if Tina comes out to her family.
