    B&T Fiction Set in College. “I’m always thinking of you, T. Always. But please, don’t be such a party-pooper with your family. You’re only there for a week. Try to enjoy them.”

    “Hey there,” he said.

    “Hi Dad. What’s going on? Everything all right?”

    Stephen raised his hand to stop her worries. “Everything’s fine. I just wanted to talk to you for a minute.”

    “Okay,” Tina replied, a long pause between her “O” and “K’.

    Her father didn’t do the talking. For her entire existence communications between she and her father happened with her mother as the intermediary. And the fact that he was still in his monkey suit didn’t bode well for him either.

    Tina welcomed him into the room and he smiled again before strolling in.

    “How was school this past semester, Tina?” he asked.

    Tina shrugged. “Good. Stressful but good.”

    His discomfort reached out and touched her, but it was the sincerity in his soft eyes that made Tina really consider his words. “Tina, I’m not going to beat around the bush, here. That’s not my style.”

    “Okay.”

    “Look, your mother is worried about you. And because she’s worried about you, I’m worried, too. I just want to make sure everything’s okay and there’s no one I need to go and beat up about you.”

    Tina smiled and sat down on her bed. She motioned for her father sit down beside her and instantly they were transported back to a friendlier time.

    As she spoke, her words were soft and warm. “Dad, everything’s okay. Why is she worried?”

    “She just isn’t connecting with you. She’s not your focus. She keeps saying you’re too focused on Bette and your friends from school. Like you don’t want to be here. Do you want to be here?”

    For the second time that day, thoughts of Bette sent a rush of color up Tina’s neck to her ears.

    She rubbed her neck and looked down. “I do want to be here, Dad. I do. I’ve just been a little lonely I guess. I’ve gotten so used to being on my own at school, I’m just still adjusting.”

    Stephen sighed. “Well, we only get you for a week T-cakes. And then it’s back to LA. We just really want to spend some time with you before you leave.”

    Instantly Tina felt guilty. She loved Bette and she missed her, but she knew it didn’t mean she had to be a bitch to everyone else she loved. She nodded, not sure of what to say.

    4. Hey MTS, Thanks for another great update. I hope Tina takes Bette’s advice and tries to enjoy her time at home instead of sitting around sulking. I’ve only seen Laurel Holloman in Angel (the tv series) and it was such a different vibe than Tina, but she still rocked the role. PPS!

    6. Hello MTS, Wonderful to have another fine and fabulous chapter from you. I just love how Bette and Tina’s worlds are opening up. Yes, they belong together and each know this but it doesn’t mean that they can’t experience the rest of the world. Bette need’s time to get to know her mother and her life. Good to see that Bette has an ally in Richard. I am sure he can guide her through the ups and downs of the NYC gay scene. And Tina does need to chill out and be herself around her Mom and Dad. There is a sense taht they both love and cherish her. OK being gay might be a shock to them and not the type of information they want broadcast around town but it is who Tina is. I do hope that if they find out then they remember that Tina is their child and deserves their love not matter who she loves. Just so heartfelt and emotional. I love every word. I jst can’t wait to read more of this delicious drama. Thank you so much for continuing this journey with Baby Bette and Tina. Your Loyal Fan.

    10. This story is so wonderfully written. The dynamics between Tina and Bette and their Moms are spot on to the situations you’ve laid out. I look forward to reading more and finding out if Tina comes out to her family.
