The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 9
Dana was exhausted. Practice had seemed especially grueling and though she loved every aspect of tennis and would make any sacrifice to further her game, she’d been distracted and winded. And as she plopped her sweaty body down on a bench in the locker room, she was very much aware that being off her game had something to do with the brunette two lockers down who that the short, tapered bob, and the piercing blue eyes.
Jenna was hard to read and as Dana sat hunched over on the bench, her elbows on her thighs and her chest heaving, she couldn’t help watching Jenna’s toned abs from the corner of her squinting eyes.
Finally, Dana stood and began to undress. Unbuttoning her drenched, white tennis dress, her eyes finally met Jenna’s. Dana swallowed thickly and said, “Great practice today, Jen. You were awesome out there.”
Naked, save for a pair of pink-striped panties, Jenna smiled broadly. She spoke with the same level of comfort as she would if completely dressed. “Thanks Fairbanks. Normally, you’d clobber me out there. You seemed to hesitate today. Like you didn’t trust your serve. Coach was riding you pretty hard.”
Dana nodded, well remembering the beating she’d taken only moments before. “I’ll get it together. Just an off day I guess.”
Jenna nodded. “I only mention it because it was you. You’re the super star,” she said with a wink.
Dana’s heart rate sped up and her blood began to race to all the places she’d rather it not go. She was drawn to Jenna though. And even as anxiety surged within her, she held Jenna’s eye and replied, “Maybe you can help me with it.”
Intensity poured out of Bette’s dark brown eyes as the curious round orbs searched around her for any signs of a most familiar young blonde. She was standing on a descending escalator, the strap of a messenger bag on a diagonal across the front of her long-sleeved tee-shirt. With her long, straightened hair pulled back in a ponytail and her black Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses resting comfortably on the top of her head, she looked more like a model in town for a photo shoot than a college student visiting friends and loved ones.

It’s been so long, but i’m very glad that you decided to continue this story. Thank you!
I’m post again later about this chapter, when i’ll read it.
Hi welcome back!
I need to read the other chapters first before i can comment.
I hope next week to catch up.
Hey, you’re back, it’s great!
Like others i think i need to refresh your to story and first to reread previous chapters and than comment this.
No! Whats wrong with Bette?? She was ok, and what happen now with her?
I hope you answer this question soon, so waiting for your next post
I have read all the chapters from start to finish. I know this was eleven years in the making. It was a very good story line however, your ending was rather abrupt and incomplete. Is Bette dying here? Or will she make a recovery and go on with her life with Tina? Although it appears to be serious it could be easily treated and just a bump in the weekend for Bette and Tina.
I appreciate your putting this chapter out. I very much would like to see the story continue to a more natural ending such as to wedding of Bette and Tina or to a break-up which they believe is where they want to be or where ever you believe the story will go. But to leave your reader at the entry of the hospital with Bette in a crisis mode and with Tina standing there seeing her lover in pain and agony? The end?
Your writing is very good. I hope you will do more and more often. Thank you for your efforts.
Martha, it’s the third part of Roommates. Like i understand it’s the end only of this part, but author wrote about that this story will continue in next part – “The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019”
I have read all previous Chapters!
I can now proceed to 2019.
Wow!
