The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 9
The bronzed beauty chewed nervously on her lower lip, those dark eyes still darting around looking for the one person in the world she needed to calm the raging tension in her body. And in a moment eerily similar to one she’d shared with Tina nearly 7 months prior, Bette Porter finally locked eyes with her girlfriend.
Though she had expected to be emotionally affected by the presence of Tina, Bette had not expected the stunning vision of her girlfriend to bring her to tears as she descended to the lower level of LAX. As the metal staircase brought her closer to the love of her life, the image of Tina became a watery outline of Calvin Klein jeans and blue baby doll tee with golden hair.
The owner of the hazel eyes atop that blue baby tee was flush with her own emotional reaction to the beautiful vision now descending the staircase. Traffic had been hellish and she’d nearly strangled Alice as her friend tried her best to maneuver along the highway toward the airport. For some reason, it had become Alice’s fault that traffic was at a standstill and even though they’d left home for the airport three hours ahead of Bette’s scheduled departure time, they were still running behind. And as they’d slowly moved along, Alice had been a nervous wreck, trying her best to get an edgy Tina to the airport. Dana had served as an intermediary, trying to calm both of her friends amid the heat of the midday and the fumes, fussing, and fantastic collision of random events that turned a normally calm Tina Kennard into a raving madwoman.
And so, when Tina Kennard arrived at the curb of LAX, she’d come sprinting into the building, nearly tripping over her own sneaker-clad feet on the way into the baggage claim. She’d searched around frantically for flight information and when she’d confirmed that Bette’s delayed flight had landed, a golden-haired madwoman ran off to find the carousel that would receive her lover’s luggage.
As she’d raced away, something had slowed Tina’s gait. Her steps grew slower and slow until her steps stopped all together and she looked upwards, drawn by a pull she could not explain.

It’s been so long, but i’m very glad that you decided to continue this story. Thank you!
I’m post again later about this chapter, when i’ll read it.
Hi welcome back!
I need to read the other chapters first before i can comment.
I hope next week to catch up.
Hey, you’re back, it’s great!
Like others i think i need to refresh your to story and first to reread previous chapters and than comment this.
No! Whats wrong with Bette?? She was ok, and what happen now with her?
I hope you answer this question soon, so waiting for your next post
I have read all the chapters from start to finish. I know this was eleven years in the making. It was a very good story line however, your ending was rather abrupt and incomplete. Is Bette dying here? Or will she make a recovery and go on with her life with Tina? Although it appears to be serious it could be easily treated and just a bump in the weekend for Bette and Tina.
I appreciate your putting this chapter out. I very much would like to see the story continue to a more natural ending such as to wedding of Bette and Tina or to a break-up which they believe is where they want to be or where ever you believe the story will go. But to leave your reader at the entry of the hospital with Bette in a crisis mode and with Tina standing there seeing her lover in pain and agony? The end?
Your writing is very good. I hope you will do more and more often. Thank you for your efforts.
Martha, it’s the third part of Roommates. Like i understand it’s the end only of this part, but author wrote about that this story will continue in next part – “The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019”
I have read all previous Chapters!
I can now proceed to 2019.
Wow!
