    The Slow Burn

Tina (laughing): You really don’t hold back, do you?

Bette: Never when it comes to you.

Tina (softly, voice filled with warmth): I kind of love that.

Bette (smiling): I kind of love you.

Tina presses the phone closer to her ear, her heart pounding softly against her ribs. The words settle between them, unspoken but deeply felt. She lets out a breath, her voice barely above a whisper.

    Tina: Goodnight, Bette.

Bette (softly, teasing): Sweet dreams, beautiful. And if you wake up missing me…. just remember, I’m probably dreaming about you too.

Tina closes her eyes, a soft smile lingering on her lips as she drifts off to sleep, Bette’s voice the last thing she hears.

    The Morning After

Tina wakes up to the soft glow of morning light filtering through her curtains, the warmth of last night’s conversation still lingering in her heart. Her phone is still loosely tucked in her hand from when she had drifted off, lulled to sleep by Bette’s voice, whispering sweet nothings until her eyelids grew heavy. A sleepy smile tugs at her lips as she stretches, reaching for her phone.

As if on cue, it buzzes.

Bette: Good morning, beautiful. Did you dream about me?

Tina bites her lip, already feeling the flutter in her chest.

Tina: Good morning, hopeless romantic. I slept like a baby… but I might have missed you a little.

Bette: A little?  I was suffering without you. I woke up dramatically sighing into my pillow. It was tragic.

Tina: Oh no, the poor pillow. Should I be worried?

Bette: Extremely. It knows all my secrets now.

Tina: Hmm…. Maybe I should bribe it for information later.

Bette: Or you could just let me tell you in person…. over coffee… at the bookshop… where I’ll be waiting for you, counting the minutes like a lovesick fool.

Tina: What if I show up late just to see how dramatic you get?

Bette: Don’t you dare. My heart is fragile in the mornings.

Tina: Fine, fine. I’ll be there on time. Just promise me there will be coffee.

Bette: Coffee, stolen glances, and the moment I see you, a kiss so sweet it’ll make the poets jealous.

Tina exhales a soft laugh, warmth blooming in her chest.

    1. One of my favorite lines – “We’d be the dog eared page someone can’t bear to forget. A story that lingers, long after the last word is read. The kind that refuses to fade, because love like this doesn’t belong to time it belongs to forever.” Exactly Bette & Tina.

I’m loving their romantic, sweet interactions. The Slow Burn – I’m here for it. Worried about what Henry will do…

      Great story!

      • Thank you so much
That line is one of my favorites too I really wanted to capture the kind of timeless, unforgettable love Bette and Tina share. I’m so happy you’re enjoying the slow burn and their growing connection. And yes, Henry is definitely the dark cloud looming over their sunshine. Things are about to get even more intense.

      • Thank you so much I’m so glad you’re enjoying the story. The road ahead is filled with twists, turns, and tender moments can’t wait to share what’s coming next

    2. Hello, I love this fic. I almost had a heart attack when I read the first chapter, I thought it was going to be a softer beginning. I love their beginning story though. I have a feeling that Henry is going to get aggressive with Tina in an effort to show her they should be together. If not that he will probably try to set Bette up, so Tina thinks she is cheating. I hope she can see through an attempt like that. If he does get aggressive with Tina, I hope Bette catches him in the act and kicks his butt. I am thoroughly enjoying this, please continue.

      • Thank you so much I know the first chapter came in like a storm definitely not the soft beginning you might’ve expected But I’m so glad you’re loving Bette and Tina’s origin story.

And wow, you’re very on point with your predictions Let’s just say Henry’s not done causing trouble, but Bette’s not backing down either. There are some intense moments ahead, but also a lot of growth,

Thank you again for reading and sharing your thoughts it truly means the world More coming soon.
