THE VAMPIRE AND THE SLAYER- Chapter 6: THE PYTHONESS

Bette didn’t answer; she fell on the bedroll paralyzed. Her eyes were fixed on the ceiling.

Tina: “Bette, baby, please tell me something”

Tina slapped the brunette softly, but this one barely responded.

A few tents farther, Lana recognized the noise; very few times she had experienced the terror of the events preceded by that noise…, but at this stage of the ritual, it seemed almost impossible for this to happen. Anyway, they have to proceed fast, she must contact Tasha. The redhead took a walky-talky from her bag.

Lara: “Tasha, did you hear the noise?”

Tasha: “yup, Louise, Marina, and I will go outside.”

Lara: “what do you want me to do?”

Tasha: “stay prepared, the critter is close to Bette and Tina’s tent.”

    Lara: “do they know?”

Tasha: “no…, not enough walky-talkies, Molly would bring more in the morning, for tomorrow’s ritual, in the meantime, be alert in case we need you”

In Helena’s tent, Louise was getting ready to leave.

Helena: “isn’t it dangerous out there?”

Louise: “yes, it is, but it will be worse if we don’t face that.”

Helena: (holding Louise’s hand) “please, be careful.”

Louise: (with a quick kiss on Helena’s lips) “I’ll be.”

Louise left the tent without any other word.

In Alice’s tent, Tasha has gathered all she needs.

Alice: “are you leaving me alone here?”

    Tasha: “you’ll be fine.”

Alice: “how you know, if something bad happens to you outside, what’ll become of me?”

Tasha: “listen to Alice, if we fail outside, you won’t have to worry, because you’ll be dead or lose your soul.”

    Alice: “what…!”

Tasha left the tent and met Louise and Marina. They walked to the center of the pentagram and started a small fire. The critter has grown since it came from the tall stone; now it was around three feet.

Marina: “I have the emergency tools, as you asked me.”

    Tasha: “great.”

Marina: “we should hurry up looks like others are coming.”

Louise looked at the tall rock observing other red light beams emerging, they still were weak, but soon they’ll become a threat.

Tasha opened the box and took the herbs, gave them to Louise, who ground them to make a juicy mixture, and put them in a small cauldron. While Louise was working, Marina distracted the small critter making a dance holding two chains of colored feathers. The critter stood in a fixed position and then started swaying as hypnotized by the motion of the feathers.

    1. Alice… Alice…. no one promised to make you human again. They purposed that they would make your life better – stronger, and abilities to escape some of the problems of being a vampire… but they never suggested that they could cure you… so as Phyllis say – take the offer or leave it.. Sounds like an improvement of your current life to me. So I’d go with the flow and accept this ritual….

Thanks for the update… look forward to more.
