    Tina – You’re just like your cowgirl mom! Bette dismounts and hugs them with a grin. Bette – She has her mama’s hazel eyes! The blonde turns to the brunette with a smile. Tina – Just my eyes after nine months carrying her … Bette – And she is adorably peaceful, just like you! The

    Tina – You’re just like your cowgirl mom!

    Bette dismounts and hugs them with a grin.

    Bette – She has her mama’s hazel eyes!

    The blonde turns to the brunette with a smile.

    Tina – Just my eyes after nine months carrying her …

    Bette – And she is adorably peaceful, just like you!

    The two women exchange a smile and a kiss.

    Tina caresses Pearl’s face.

    Tina – Hi Pearly … I’ve missed you! You’re growing so fast! You’re taller than your mom now!

    Bette – And the spitting image of her dad!

    The young mare nickers.

    Angie babbles away, swinging her arms with excitement and hitting Pearl’s neck with her soft hands.

    Bette – We need to be gentle, Angie … like this …

    She caresses Pearl’s neck holding Angie’s hand.

    Bette – Let’s go drink some juice!

    She takes the baby into her arms, making her way to the porch with the bottle of juice in hand.

    The blonde kisses the mare’s face.

    Tina – We are going to the valley tomorrow, OK? Tell your mom and dad!

    Bette places Angie on Kit’s lap before sitting in a rocking chair by her side. The baby begins to suck on her bottle, resting on her aunt’s arms and looking up into her eyes.

    Kit gazes at her niece with a grin.

    Kit – You like your apple juice, don’t you, baby girl?

    The baby pauses as her lips curve up in a smile. Just as soon, she sucks on her juice bottle again.

    The blonde is still talking to Pearl and pats her rump.

    Tina – You can go back to your mama now, Pearly! Yah!

    Pearl canters away to the stable.

    Kit gazes into her niece’s eyes with adoration.   

    Kit – You know that your auntie loves you more than anything in this world, don’t you?

    She kisses Angie’s forehead and touches her nose to the baby’s head, inhaling with a smile.

    Kit – And you smell like the most fragrant flower!

    Bette chuckles.

    Bette – Not always!

    Pearl reaches the stable and neighs. Two other neighs are heard from inside the stable. Jim appears at the door and pats her.

      I cannot help but thinking a lot, with few touches here and there, to my beloved Desert Hearts – and since your Alice was watching this wonderful movie in this story, I think it was a kind of tribute wink, no ? ;-)
