Tina was at a loss for words, thankfully she didn’t have to start the conversation. However badly slurred the two words were, Tina was able to interpret them.
“Hey Tina”
She crossed her arms over her chest, “What are you doing here? Please tell me you didn’t drive”
As if offended, Kevin lifted his suddenly heavy head and shook it feverishly, ignoring the increased wave of dizziness that hit him.
“Course not” He slurred as he rather animatedly gestured to the waiting car behind him, “Took a cab”
Tina crossed her arms and peered over her ex-husband’s shoulder, growing rather annoyed with the situation as she repeated her earlier question. “What are you doing here?”
“It’s your birthday!” Kevin exclaimed as he spread his arms out, “We always spend your birthday together”
Taken aback for a moment at the fact that Kevin even remembered her birthday, Tina suddenly felt the need to correct him despite the urgency that ran through her. She wanted Kevin off the porch and away from the house as soon as possible, not wanting Bette to witness the drunken sight. Lord knew how many different ways that could go wrong.
“Actually, we haven’t spent a birthday together in years, not counting the ones we’ve been separated for. You’re drunk Kevin, go home and sober up. Bette and I have plans and-”
“Of course Bette! It’s always Bette” Kevin spat bitterly as be threw his arms up, nearly losing his balance yet was somehow able to grab into the door frame just in time. “When‘s it gonna be ‘bout me?”
He was swaying more than before and Tina was sure he would topple over soon, nevertheless his words continued to fuel her growing annoyance. She wouldn’t close the door on him just yet, not until he heard and understood what she was about to say next.
“It was always about you. That’s over. We’re over. I’m with Bette. I love Bette”
“But you used to love me”
“Used to. I don’t anymore”
Tina knew how badly the words must have hurt, watching as they registered with Kevin. Even in his drunken state, the words cut him just as deep. Ignoring the pang of guilt, Tina held firm knowing it had to be said.

About the chapter, Kevin is a nasty piece of ass.
I don’t understand why Tina didn’t tell the truth who was at the door.

I understand why Tina tried be friends with Kevin, but i think she need to stop be so naive about him. She alredy understand it, after his drunk appearance, but maybe it’s too late – he’s already made his plans about Angelica.

I think that Kevin, how stupid he is, understand that no judge gives him custody of Angelica. So i think he might to try another, illegal way to take Ange.

So glad Tina got wise to his lil game to win her back. After ABANDONING Tina and Angie and having NO RELATIONSHIP with his child, I can’t see a Court giving him any rights…he would have to have supervise visitation at best.
I love the way Tina Reassured Bette that she is her ONE AND ONLY!!!
Great birthday dinner with the Bracelet and the understanding that a proposal is coming one day…cute! I wished she would have told Bette about Kevin showing up drunk and looking to reconcile, but I understand NOT wanting to ruin their time together after a tough couple of weeks. I know Bette is gonna lose it when she finds out what Kevin is up to. She is very protective of Tina and Angie!
Glad you are feeling better, I had bronchitis in December it is hard on the body…the coughing alone make you so tired and sore. Take care and take all your antibiotics!

Ugh. Kevin is grinding my gears lol! I wish he’d just disappear and let Bette take over as the second parent role officially. Seems as if she has anyway. Ohhhh and I hope that’s a foreshadowing of a soon-to-be proposal! Love your stories. :)

Any chance u would make a sequel out of “as good as it gets” and continue with “never say never”? I am curious what kind of life does Tibette have with Tina become a famous singer and bette as a famous producer in as good as it gets or how Tina could finally fall in love with bette in never say never…i have to say from all of Tibette’s stories that i’ve read only in never say never Tina and Alice was sister.. and it’s quit refreshing..:D
