He held out a hand for Angelica to take, silently promising that he would make things better for her. He frowned when his daughter completely disregarded him, continuing instead to bang her sippy cup on the table.
“Thank you for today” Tina spoke sincerely, cutting into Kevin’s thoughts. “I didn’t think we could have this but I’m glad I was wrong”
Kevin perked up at her words. His plan was working faster than expected.
“I know it’s hard for some parents to maintain a civil relationship let alone a friendship but I want you to know how important it is to me that you’re trying”
Kevin was beyond ecstatic, wanting to laugh at the twinge of doubt he had initially possessed. Tina was falling under his spell once more. He-
Wait.
“What?” Friends?
Tina nodded as if she had heard his thoughts, “I know we have our differences but having some version of a friendship will mean the world to Angie in the long run”
No. No no no.
This would not work.
How would Tina fall in love with him again if she only saw him as a friend? Did Tina plan to remain in a relationship with Bette while he got the short end of the stick and became her friend?
No. Wasn’t gonna happen.
Kevin felt his family slipping through his fingers, wanting desperately to right the wrong.
“Tina .. I think there’s been-“
“Bette”
Both Tina and Kevin immediately turned to Angie, their eyes wide with surprise. Having heard her say things like “mama” and “cup” in the past, neither were surprised that she spoke. It was that particular name that caught them off guard.
Angie held out her arms in the next instant, bouncing in her seat as she watched the owner of her newest word make her way to their table. Tina and Kevin looked toward the entrance and smiled at Bette’s approaching form, Tina with genuine happiness and Kevin with disdain.
“My girls” Bette smiled wide as she leaned down to give Tina a sweet kiss before making her way over to an overly excited Angelica. She lifted the baby from her high chair and peppered her with kisses. “I missed you”
Her eyes flickered to Kevin who seemed to be waiting for a greeting of his own. She simply nodded her head in his direction, acknowledging his presence.

About the chapter, Kevin is a nasty piece of ass.
I don’t understand why Tina didn’t tell the truth who was at the door.

I understand why Tina tried be friends with Kevin, but i think she need to stop be so naive about him. She alredy understand it, after his drunk appearance, but maybe it’s too late – he’s already made his plans about Angelica.

I think that Kevin, how stupid he is, understand that no judge gives him custody of Angelica. So i think he might to try another, illegal way to take Ange.

So glad Tina got wise to his lil game to win her back. After ABANDONING Tina and Angie and having NO RELATIONSHIP with his child, I can’t see a Court giving him any rights…he would have to have supervise visitation at best.
I love the way Tina Reassured Bette that she is her ONE AND ONLY!!!
Great birthday dinner with the Bracelet and the understanding that a proposal is coming one day…cute! I wished she would have told Bette about Kevin showing up drunk and looking to reconcile, but I understand NOT wanting to ruin their time together after a tough couple of weeks. I know Bette is gonna lose it when she finds out what Kevin is up to. She is very protective of Tina and Angie!
Glad you are feeling better, I had bronchitis in December it is hard on the body…the coughing alone make you so tired and sore. Take care and take all your antibiotics!

Ugh. Kevin is grinding my gears lol! I wish he’d just disappear and let Bette take over as the second parent role officially. Seems as if she has anyway. Ohhhh and I hope that’s a foreshadowing of a soon-to-be proposal! Love your stories. :)

Any chance u would make a sequel out of “as good as it gets” and continue with “never say never”? I am curious what kind of life does Tibette have with Tina become a famous singer and bette as a famous producer in as good as it gets or how Tina could finally fall in love with bette in never say never…i have to say from all of Tibette’s stories that i’ve read only in never say never Tina and Alice was sister.. and it’s quit refreshing..:D
