You Found me Epilogue

What do you mean?
I mean if you had an egg fertilized and placed in your uterus that you can carry a child and give birth. That is, if you had an egg donor as well as a sperm donor she says looking over at Bette. Tina also looks over at Bette.
Tina smiles. Bette took a minute then realized what she was saying and looks at Tina who is beaming. She smiles back. So you’re saying Tina carry one of my eggs inside her?
Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying. Tina would not need to go through all the testing, shots, medication or most importantly depression each time it didn’t work. And this would speed things along don’t you think?
Yes it would. Bette says looking at Tina.
So you’ll do it? Tina asks.
I would do anything for you Tina. I know how badly you want kids and to be the one to carry them. But…she trails off with her thoughts…
But what? Tina was scared for a second not knowing what Bette’s thinking.
The donor. It can’t be Markus. We need a new donor that looks more like you, but other than that I’m ok with it. Bette smiles at her beautiful wife who clearly has her spark back.
Tina jumps from her seat into Bette’s lap kissing her then stops. You scared me there for a minute.
Me too said Dr. Griffin. They all laugh. Well I for one am glad this turned out ok. You don’t know how much I hate giving news like that. Tina we do need to do additional testing. It’s nothing to worry about just a precautionary measure. I’ll schedule it for next week.
Tina sits back in her seat as Bette asks a question. You mentioned hormonal problems. What causes that and what else could it affect?
Dr. Griffin hands them a pamphlet and explains what it says. The ovaries do not produce normal follicles in which the eggs can mature. Ovulation is rare if the eggs are immature and the chance of fertilization becomes almost nonexistent. Polycystic ovary syndrome, the most common disorder responsible for this problem, includes symptoms such as amenorrhea, hirsutism, anovulation and infertility. This syndrome is characterized by a reduced production of FSH, and normal or increased levels of LH, estrogen and testosterone. The current hypothesis is that the suppression of FSH associated with this condition causes only partial development of ovarian follicles, and follicular cysts can be detected in an ultrasound scan. The affected ovary often becomes surrounded with a smooth white capsule and is double its normal size. The increased level of estrogen raises the risk of breast cancer, which is why I need more tests to check these levels more closely and if you need some medication to level it out I can do that.
