    They go to the bedroom and crawl onto the bed. They sit up against the headboard and Tina grabs a pillow to hold. Bette dials Tina’s mom  and puts the call on speaker.

    They look at each other and smile. Hello. Jeffrey answers the phone.

    Hey Jeffery, where’s mom?

    She went to the bathroom. So you knocked up?

    Jeffery! Lynn hollers coming back into the kitchen. Bette and Tina crack up. Give me that phone. Christina is this you?

    Yeah mom. Bette’s here too.

    Hey Bette. So how did the doctor visit go? Is everything a go to get pregnant?

    Tina hesitates so Bette answers. Well yes and no Lynn.

    What exactly does that mean Bette?

    She means I can’t get pregnant but I can carry a baby. Tina says.

    Ok you’re going to have to give an old woman more information than that. They both chuckle.

    The doctor said I can’t get pregnant…

    Actually she could try to but she would have to go through a lot to get there and there’s no guarantee. Tina’s eggs are immature which is due to a hormonal imbalance.

    But I can carry one of Bette’s eggs.

    So your eggs are not able to create a child but you are able to carry one like a surrogate.

    Yes. Tina whispers holding back tears to her mother’s words.

    And we have to choose another donor. Bette cuts in

    Why is that?

    Because we wanted our baby to look like both of us and we picked Markus as you well know based on Bette so the baby wouldn’t look anything like me.

    So now you need a blonde hair, hazel eyed donor.

    Yes, that’s what we want. Bette says. I think Tina is so beautiful. I would love to have a child that looked just like her.

    Awwww…Tina kisses her.

    Hello I’m still here. They stop and laugh. Sorry!

    Well I’m sure you two had a long day and need to rest. I’ll be sure to tell your father what your plans are.

    Ok mom. Love you.

    Love you too darlin. Lynn says and then hangs up. She had been holding back her tears and needed to get off the phone before Tina could tell.

    We didn’t tell her about the tests you still have to undergo.

    8. In Lockdown again here in the UK so had a reread
      Enjoyed reliving the story particularly life on the farm.
