“Ok, I also have grinder downstairs that’s state of the art. Before you say that I’ve gone over-board with all this stuff, remember that our brand will be all about simply being the best place to be for a hundred miles around; our coffee will be the best in all the land because of the way we’ll grind the beans and the way we’ll make the coffee. Our space is already the coolest; our music, the most chill…”

“Loving it, Jay,” Jordie interrupted. “But what difference do state-of-the-art grinders and coffee machines make to people who…”

Bette threw her hands up in mock exasperation.

“They make all the difference, girls! Using this grinder is like using premium gas over regular gas. And this machine right here,” she thumped the machine, “is umm… the Grand Tetons compared to those hills out back. They’re going to taste it once, and they’ll never want anything else.”

The three looked at each other, and then back at Bette. “Prove it!”

The next day, Jordie walked in with a woman that she slightly resembled, but who was a head shorter than she was. And the woman was blonde whereas Jordie was dark-haired.

Jenn and Sam were down in a general storage-type area that Bette had added during the renovation. One room in it was naturally cooler than the cafe’ level space, and she’d used it to store the wines that she’d ordered, the bags of unroasted coffee that had been delivered already, and spare parts of the various machines that she’d had installed. There was an open space in between that room and the other room, which had the coffee roaster, the fridge and freezers.

Bette had tasked them with cleaning chores today, so the two were cleaning out the storage area first, and planned to sweep and wipe down the café space.

“Hi Jay, this is my mom, Lena.”

Bette had been attaching stickers to bottoms of a tray of cappuccino cups, standing next to a work table she’d set up behind the bar when the mother and daughter had walked in. She looked up quickly to smile at them, and then focused on the last few cups that she hadn’t gotten to yet. “Hi. So, Jordie, like we talked yesterday, it’s cleaning day today. Jenn and Sam were so excited to get started, for some reason, that they got here early. They’re starting with the new storage area in the new basement I had built. The one I showed you girls yesterday.”

    1. Skydancer, thank you for the update.

I was certain you would bring Tina in the café to meet Bette. But maybe it is Tina and she had to change her name too and needed to hide.

Lena or Tina doesn’t matter at the, moment, Bette can use some tender loving to reliesh her stress.

      • Nice chapter, skydancer. In some email exchanges with @Jacky, she’s passed on to me that she doesn’t expect, nor want writers to self-censor. Just write what you want and let the chips fall where they may. Gotta love that woman. I would just avoid keywords that would be caught by any sniffer. I’m sure you have an idea of what words might attract attention. Other than that, I say bring on the TLC!

    2. Really like this so far. If not mistaken, in the first chapter, I believe that I read that a film crew would be in the area very soon. So if you didn’t change Tinas’ occupation, then that is when she will show up. Right? Must go back and read that first chapter for some clarification of all this. Thanks for sharing. Can hardly wait for Tina to appear.

      • Hi @Jane, I was referring to warning or instructions you see when you start to post a new chapter or story. The warning is new, and informs you that Google is screening for mature content in the text, not just in pics that are posted. Since the site relies on Google providing a platform for it (I think), I took it seriously. I also took it to mean Google is screening other posted chapters (and I’ve posted a bunch of chapters with sexy scenes, so ….). But @Jacky is saying not to worry, so, I guess that means I can (?) does that clear it up for you?

    3. Hmmm, very, very interesting. Our favorite girls having to survive in a Red State, living underground, and communicating thru code! Sort of like life right now! Again. Please keep writing so I can relive this
