Can we get it back – Chapter 8

“Thank you.” Bette says and looks into Tina’s eyes. She sees something there, but she becomes tired quickly with this drug they put in. Within minutes she’s asleep.

Tina takes a seat back. And opens her laptop again, she’ll try to get through some emails, anything urgent. It was a little easier now to concentrate, when she knew Bette was okay.
Time flies by and suddenly it’s 2 o’clock. “Damn, I haven’t eaten anything, and Angie will be here in an hour or so.” Tina thinks to herself. She closes the laptop and stands up. She checks on Bette and then leaves the room. She lets the nurses know she will be down in the cafeteria and back soon.
She walks up to the menu selection in the cafeteria and chooses a few things and goes to pay. She finds a table an takes a seat. She brings out her cellphone and writes a message to Angie.

Hey, sweetie, mama B is alert and talking. She had a headache so they drugged her down so she could sleep. I’m in the cafeteria now. When will you be here?” She writes and sends off. A few moments later she gets a reply from Angie.

Hey mom. That is great, not about the headache though. I’m off school now. I’m walking towards the bus now. I think I’ll be there in 15 minutes or something.” Angie replies.

Okay, I’ll wait for you down in the cafeteria. Find me there okay?” Tina answers back.

    K xo.” Angie replies.

Tina smiles at the last reply. During the time spent in Canada the last few years and the time away from Angie has been painful for her. Missing out on so much. She’s had the regular calls, but that isn’t the same as talking face to face and participate in the everyday life. She was going to change that now. No more missing out. She says silently to herself. She finishes her baguette and takes a sip of her coffee as she sees Angie walking in and looking around. She waves at her to get her attention and after a few seconds, Angie spots her mama T. Angie hurries over and gives her a big hug and then takes a seat opposite her.

    1. Okay…on their way home and recovery. Bette, please do not overthink this. Let things develop as they will naturally. With some time and rehab, thing will be back to normal physically for Bette.

As to the tiredness for Bette? I have had a couple of surgeries. Each time the recovery to the actual surgery was fairly quick – a week to two weeks. But the recovery form the anesthesia seemed to take forever. I was told form my surgeon that it takes most people a full month to get it out of your system and get back to your regular energy level. It was absolutely true for me. I had the need for a 2 hour nap every day even after having slept for 8 hours the night before. I was tired and sleepy. And Bette was under an anesthesia for more than 6 hours. So tiredness is a natural response for several weeks following the procedure..

Great story… thanks for giving this to us.

    2. I only started now to read your story. Happy that Bette is ok. She’ll have to work for her recovery but she has enough reasons to be very motivated.

I hope that Tina and Bette are able to talk about everything that went wrong between them and find a new basis for their relationship.

      Looking forward to more.

    3. Interesting – Bette don’t have a job, right? And she didn’t have her a some time – she running for mayor but it’s not job. Where she get a money? And if she ever had medical insurance? Because if not – this treatment is very expensive, she can’t afford it.
