    Chapter 18 – The Weekend – August 10 & 11

Sunday morning came and Bette and Tina decided they would take a run before breakfast.  Angie and Daniel decided to join them.  Tina then prepared a large bowl of yogurt and fruit with granola and nuts. This was becoming Angie’s favorite breakfast. She found the flavors, the crunch and the satisfaction of being full to be pleasant.  Helena and Dylan had gotten back to Los Angeles earlier than they had thought and had called to ask Bette and Tina to come up for lunch and that afternoon.  Angie was thrilled in that she would drive the family. It would take about an hour to drive to Malibu. Bette announced that they could not stay all afternoon as she need to get ready for school in the morning and Angie and Daniel had golf lessons early.

The family went to Helena and Dylan and had a lovely lunch on the covered patio.  The kids went and took a long walk on the beach while the adults caught up on what was going on in each other’s lives.  Tina told them about the studio and the new home.

Dylan told Bette and Tina that they had made a deal on the farm in Scotland. They were keeping the farmers in place running their farms as they had for centuries at a minuscule rent. They would become employees of the inn and grounds when they were finished.  Helena was insistent on having locals run the place and provide authentic food and beverages for the inn.

Helena: The inn would have probably 16 rooms but no more than 24. There would be a pub built or leased in the closet town but the inn would have a bar, a large dining room and a large lounge with a large fireplace and leather sofas and chairs with reading lamps and wool throws for the comfort of the guest. There would be a television for the purpose of following sports but not encouraged. None of the guest rooms would have a television. But they would have modest on suite baths probably with showers only. The rooms will be designed for sleeping or getting cozy with your beloved. But for entertainment, you going to have get out, see the sights, enjoy the smell and experience the life in the community. Oh, there is a very nice golf course nearby if you like that sort of thing. There are also several historic sites. Edinburgh is not far away and there is night life there if that’s what you crave. And I think that we are going to have a little gold mine there. And I do not think that we are going to disrupt the life of the community either.
