Chapter 31 – Off to New York

Bette: Okay, let’s put these bed boxes over there with the other stuff.

Angie: Why did we put some of the bed stuff in boxes and some into the trunk?

Bette:  The stuff in the boxes will go on your bed immediately. More than likely, the stuff in the trunk will be stored for future use. So… let’s go to your room and see if we can get your clothes in order. We are going to need about 4 boxes. One box for each drawer. I see the racks have already been rolled into your room.

Bette went over to the tool bucket and noticed that Daniel had included a tape measure. Bette picked it up and put it into her pocket. She and Angie then walked into the bedroom and saw the stacks of clothing. Bette quickly cut a length of tape and put it at the ¾ the way to the bottom of the bed, then another at the half-way mark and another at the three-quarter mark. She took the pillows off the bed and put them on the side chair.

Bette: Angie? Pretend this is your chest of drawers at school. You are going to have to fit these clothes into that chest which has four drawers. The top space is drawer number 1, then drawer number 2, then number 3 and the lowest drawer is number 4. The better organized you are, the more likely you will not run out of clothes. But this is all the drawer space you have for your non-hanging clothes. So first let’s organize what is going to go in what drawer.

Angie: Okay… underwear, bras and socks in number one. T-shirts, sweat shirts in number two. Sweat pants and pajamas in number 3 and sweaters in number 4.

Bette: Okay. Your drawers are going to be limited in size so. You need to take less than the absolute full capacity. And you need to keep it neat and orderly and rotate what you wear and not the same item everyday so that some of it wears out and others are perfectly new. Got it?

    Angie: Yeah.

Bette: How many pairs of panties do you have?

    Angie: Twelve.

Bette:  Cut 4 pair out. And you need at least 4 pair of sports underwear.
