Chapter 31 – Off to New York

Angie:  Yes. I plan to put one on my key ring and the other one I was going to hide some place.

    Bette:  I have a suggestion.

    Angie: Where?

Bette:  Tape them on the inside of the 2nd drawer of desk on the front side. And do not tell your roommate or anyone else where they are. And keep your key ring in your pencil drawer, or your back pack or your purse. Keep the one in the closet locked at all times. Keep the one at the end of your bed locked or unlocked at your convenience. If you start to see that things are missing without authorization, then start to lock it. And keep the keys on your person at all times. You will have a key to your room; you will need to keep up with as well.

Angie: Actually, that is good. You cannot see the front of inside of the drawer unless you are looking at a particular angle. Okay. That is what I will do.

Bette: Use packing tape and make it as flat as possible and not tell-tale tape edges showing. You can hide cash that way as well. But you need to put it in a plastic bag first. And choose a middle drawer in your chest of drawers. And the back side or the underside of a drawer is good, as well. If someone is looking for money, they are usually in a hurry and do not want to be caught. So, they are not very efficient at looking.  That’s not a fail-safe method. Someone may still find it and take it. But the odds are in your favor that unless they know you and your habits, they won’t find it. But just be sure you are alone when to do the hiding. And don’t you forget that it’s there. You do not want to move away and leave a stash of cash behind.

Angie: Yeah, that would be upsetting.

Bette:  Ready now for this last one. The roll should be a little lighter this go-round.

Angie:  Yeah, it should be and that we are experienced it should go quicker.

Bette: I’ll hold and unroll and you do the wrapping. Pull all you need to keep these clothes clean. We have plenty. Let’s do this.
