Chapter 31 – Off to New York

Angie: I know. Actually, I have been thinking.  I am beginning to like the idea of living off campus in an apartment or something. But let me see what life is like at the dorm before we start down that path.

Bette:  I agree.  But although I think you will enjoy your dorm life, I do not think you will want more than a year of it.

Angie:  We’ll see. I am really excited about this you know.

Bette:  I’m excited for you dear. It’s a wonderful time in your life. Now, let’s see if we can help your mom and Mary.

Daniel came downstairs and headed directly to the laundry room. Bette joined him and helped start another load of sheets and towels.

Bette:  Daniel? Is your bed and sister’s bed made up with clean sheets?

Daniel:  Yes, we did that this morning.

Bette:  Have you packed your suitcase as much as you can?

    Daniel:  Yes, Mom, I’m ready.

Bette: Everything okay Daniel?  Anything you want to talk about?

Daniel:  Well, I’m a little sad that Angie is leaving us.

Bette:  I know son. We all are. We are all going through some changes in our life. And this is what Angie wants to do. And we want Angie to be happy right?

    Daniel:  Yes, we do.

Bette: When we get back, you, young man will only have one day before you will have to go to school and I have to go to work. And your mama will be busy setting her studio to start her new endeavor. And within a couple of weeks, we will all be moving into our new home. So, we are going to be really busy from now until Thanksgiving.

Daniel: That’s just a little more than a week away. Wow. Summer really is over.

Bette:  Yeah, it is. Not much of a summer, was it?

Daniel: Are you kidding?  It’s been a great summer. We have lived here on the beach. We have had a pool. We have all been together. Angie and I got to play lots of golf. And Mama has made some really great meals. It’s been a great summer. Hey, do you think I could get Uncle Sonny to take me fishing on the pier before we move?
