Chapter 31 – Off to New York

Bette:  You are right. We just need to take this as it goes. It will all work out, one way or another…. It will all work out.

They headed back to the beach house. Tina made the last dishes as Bette poured the ice tea and water. Mary and Tina plated the food and Bette carried the plates of hot food to the table. Daniel and Angie were waiting anxiously. Mary and Tina joined the family at the table.

Angie:  Nice meal Mom. Thank you.

The family ate and enjoyed being with each other for their last meal at the beach house.

Bette: Announcements! The car will be here at 4:00. The plane is scheduled to leave at 7:00. They will serve a meal shortly after they achieve cruising altitude. Now everyone should try to sleep while on the plane. If you can’t sleep, read, watch a movie, but do something quiet. We arrive in New York just before midnight Pacific Time. That means it will be 3:00 a.m. New York time. It will then take another hour to get to the apartment once on the ground. At that time, we will decide whether to start some of our projects and then go get some breakfast or to take a nap to climatize to the time. We will set the schedule based upon how we feel once we reach the New York apartment. But sleeping on the plane is going to be really important. We will get in a nap tomorrow at some point in the day. But what we accomplish tomorrow will set the pace for the rest of the week. Wear comfortable warm clothes on the plane. You can always remove clothing but finding additional may be a problem. Wear slip on shoes and some warm socks.

Tina: Now there are five of us? Someone is going to sit with someone other than us.

Mary:  I volunteer to take the odd seat.

Bette: It will be bulkhead seat which means a lot more leg room. You may get your choice of window or aisle seat. But all the seats are first class. They may even give you a second blanket Mary.

Angie: Can we wear jogging suits?

Tina: Absolutely – a velour one would be best. Something heavier than most. Now the food is not going to be anything to write home about. But eat what you can. And drink plenty of water and keep hydrated.
