Chapter 31 – Off to New York

Bette:  We can ask. That may be something you guys could do one Saturday or Sunday morning.

Daniel:  Yeah, that would be great.

Bette: Okay, let’s get these towels put away. Why don’t you check the bathroom off the media room and see if it is fully stocked?

    Daniel:  Okay…

Bette then went and began to set the table for lunch. Tina and Mary had come to a point where they were cleaning things up. Bette suggested that all of them take a walk on the beach. All five of them headed down the beach for a leisurely walk. Mary walked arm in arm with Angie. Bette and Tina held hands and Daniel was leading the way picking up shells and throwing them into the surf.

    Tina: Everything okay?

Bette:  Everything is fine. Angie says it’s okay for Mary to use her car while she is gone. She has everything organized and sorted out. She’s ready. Daniel’s a little sad, but he is looking forward to school. And how are you my dear?

Tina:  I fine.  My family is good and we are ready for the week to come. I think Mary really is going to make the move from Phoenix to LA. I think that party pushed her over the edge. She really likes all of our friends.

Bette: Well, that’s good. It would be wonderful to have her nearby. Now, do you think we could convince her to just live with us rather than getting a place of her own.

Tina: I don’t think she is there yet. Let’s wait and see how she relates to us once we move into our new home.

Bette:  Yes, I can see that. Please help me not to push her into something that she really doesn’t want. Maybe I should ask you first.  Would you be okay with Mary living with us?

Tina:  Oh, absolutely. She’s a lovely person Bette. She wants to be helpful and she does not want to be a burden. And as long as she has some independence, I think we will all get along fine. She respects our privacy and as long as we respect hers, things will go fine. She’s been living alone for a very long time. So, meshing with a family is going to be something different. But she loves people and she wants to be around people. All we can do is give her the opportunity or the choice and go from there.
